The lurking people on AS~

That the things.... Got so many members but like 10% is active... Not sure if some of them is lurkers.... If I want them to post something I need to know what going on in their minds 1st which won't happen cuz they are lurking.....

Hmm well if they lurk around certain threads then they may be interested in the conversations happening there... the lpw is just random so it doesnt help usually ;p

Hmm... My MonHun thread sure got many lurkers.... Wish they would join in the talk instead of lurking....

Lol... Eva ask once already but they still lurk.. It scared them away but they come back....

Hmm maybe its communication problems they fear? Quite a lot of the lurkers are from japan or somewhere in asia anyway~

Hmm.... Speaking up will help improve the English instead of lurking and reading through the pages.... Don't you think so????

Hmm... Too many pages to go to about.... Rather go on a convo then reading....

Hmm yes thats my mind set sorta... though some threads are fun to just lurk in ;p

I'm a lurker. Sorry if I offended anyone. I've been a lurking member in a number of other online sites. I'm particularly active commenting in game news sites (in the comment sections of articles) but I seldom participate in their discussion forums even though I'm a member for years.

I've been a total lurker in one J Pop singer's fan site but since it was my first online membership of any kind I decided too keep quiet. Not even even thank you comment (yes, it's horrible but I was too shy to say anything). I just discovered the extremely tiny thanks button just 2 years ago (after over 6 years of membership).

Of course the main reason of my lurker habit is shyness and a tendency to avoid confrontation. Another is rather technical. I became a fan of that particular singer but I was too far away from any internet source. Broadband or 3G haven't existed yet. So I did the hit and run thing. I can only download her songs/videos once a month via cyber cafes and later wifi when hotels started to use them. There isn't much time for me to engage seriously in discussions with other users so it the hit and run lurker thing became a habit. My friends have been using the hotels' wifi for two years before I finally brought my laptop to the city to use that facility. Half an hour after my first wifi connection with a hotel my laptop was hit by a debilitating virus attack.

Even after I finally got my own internet connection it is hard to break the old habit. There was tech site that I've been a forum member for 5 years and yet I'm still classified as a Level 2 junior member. It was mostly due to confidence issues (an offshoot of shyness). What can I possibly offer when I'm only experienced in basic overclocking (type some value in the BIOS) compared to those who tweak voltage levels for every possible setting all the time? I joined the forum because simply there was a problem I encountered back then. I still visit the site but I have stopped in participating in its forum. I disliked how some of the moderators/senior members acted when Diablo 3 came out.

Well...that got long and winded quickly. Sorry, I'm really bad at ending or concluding my comments.

Somehow this little piece of truth always makes me feel a bit sad :( Well, while we all are striving to better our foreign language it just stays true.
A huge majority of lurkers aim for what they solely want from the site though, I mean, downloading stuff or so. The idea of being shy as a virtual person online is really... abnormal to me :/

Hellfire; I doubt you would offend anyone just from lurking ;p Frank might try to hunt you down and eliminate you though :ninja: Hmm as for being shy... well im pretty shy myself irl... but somehow im fine online~ The people around here are pretty nice too~

I'm still rattled every now and then when commenting online. Even opening the notification for this one is making me nervous. I know that there are nice people out there but old habits die hard.

In fact I found myself making more and more making rather negative comments in other sites. I'm not deliberately trolling or anything. Just saying what's in my mind although I do know they 'll cause some people to get angry. I wanted to see how far can I cope with confrontation.

I guess I have to be careful around Frank, then.

Hellfire; Ehh Frank is usually just joking around about eliminating people ;p

Hmm old habits... encountered a lot of trolls? :/

Find other ways which wouldnt get people angry?

Well i guess i understand why someone would lurk...

No. Just personal esteem or something like that. Trolls I can ignore.

Anyway, let's see how far I'll go in this site. I have a number of interests - games, comedy sites and hentai- that require my attention so I wouldn't know where to start when I got to my computer.

I understand you, good sir ^^ It's great that your interests are almost the same as mine- It'd be great if we shared the same H preferences too xD

And Anime. How could I forgot about anime! Games, comedy sites, anime (mostly comedic) and hentai. Who has time for those (I know I don't)? Let alone be an active members for forums from each genre/interest.

Trying not to be a lurker. I've been silent in my first two forums I've joined that it would feel weird if I suddenly opened my digital mouth after all those years. I just noticed that I've been a member her since this April so why not start getting friendlier before it became too awkward. Of course seeing the numerous forum categories here (I keep forgetting that AS is more than just about hentai)...that's going to be a pretty daunting experience.
