Am I missing something?

Some older games won't run at all or will run poorly (e.g. constant crashes) on a modern system, particularly the games designed for Windows 95/98/Me. Maybe there's a computer enthusiast (or programmer or software engineer) on here that can explain the technical details on why that is. Anyway, the workaround is to use a virtual machine. Two options for this are VirtualBox (free) and VMware Workstation Pro (paid but can be pirated by finding a serial key online).
