Visual Novel Cafe

Hello everyone~

I think it's my first time posting in this thread, but anyway I'm here for bunch of reasons. First I want to start a new game, second I don't know which game I should. I was actually planning to play Riddle Joker but I decided to try something different.

Also I've read your review Franky, it's been a long time since the last time I read a review. The story seems still interesting for me, I am not someone who expects a huge plot soo yeah looking forward to try it, one day.^^

Soo after reasearching for a while I have finally found a game to play, it's こねこねこねこ (Koneko Neko Neko), it's by SkyFish poco and I got really interested after watching the movie.
which is very cute!
then I read the description on vndb : you can find it here.

I think my fave is going to be the tsundere: Nekokawa Shirone

I will write here as I am playing the game, see you later!

Hello and welcome! Will glad to read your review about Konekonekoneko.

I not played in that game, just only heard the songs by Koharu Meu and Rin. Songs are okay, by the way, but not wow.

And yeah, so many eroge released past months, but no one to say anything about them. Everyone have no time, huh?

Thank you for the welcome my friend! I am also looking forward to play the game and share my thoughts here with you guys.

Yup, there is many games to play but you really can't know if it's worth to try or not, no one got time to play games all the time so...but I hope I can play this game because I got really interested when I saw the little kittens, because I like cute stuff a lot. ( I really love moe ) :boys2_tehee:

Oh it's kk. Don't know what to recommend cuz I haven't played many lately. Also nekomimi isn't my things.

I think it's just plain generic charage for me. But even good generic charage are hard to come by these day.

Oh yeah, I still have to finish Lovesick Puppies. How many year has it been already? =\

I usually get interested in a game when something catches my eye in a mv, like when I watched Ojou-sama wa Sunao ni Narenai's opening video there was a scene where mc holding one of the girls like a bride and I liked that, soo I wanted to play the game for that route only.

How many games do you have on your backlog at the moment?

Well, there is Harumina which I suspended in favor of Making*Lovers and Riddle Joker. And there is Lovesick Puppies which I definitely won't drop but it's going very slowly. And there are still a lot of game from the late 2000s-early 2010s tat I still want to play. But when new releases that catch my eye come up I tend to forget about them. =\

Hard to recommend anything without knowing your expectations...so follow your guts, just like that, I guess.

Hmm... this month is quite so-so. I might try Windmill’s Natsumaho or Miragesoft’s Koiflag. Other than that nothing that really caught my eye.

In other news, Hulotte has announced their new title, and Feng finally has some update on their 8th project, which was supposed to come after Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi years ago. Hoshikaka underwent some minor development hell too and ended up almost being a kusoge. Let’s not have much hope for now.

I finally finished the route A main story of 天結いキャッスルマイスター after I left the game during the final mission. I used SpoilerAl to circumvent the material farming (except of collecting the materials once to be registered). Overall: I liked this light-hearted Eushully title. It had some good scenes and music tracks, Kisnil's VA was great, the the cast was quite likable. Gaidal was as a villain neat with his sleaky way of taking, but ultimately overstayd his welcome. Iol's evasion tankiness saved my behind quite often as did Rishe's traditional defense tankiness. I was glad I stocked up on resurrection items beforehand or things would have gone ugly :D. Can't be bothered with the append dungeons and stuff, though.

As for this month: I agree with Frankincense. I'll look into these two VNs as well. I haven't played every Windmill title, but love most of their Oasis branch VNs, and Kamigakakri Crossheart was with its light-heartedness and raburabu moments very much in my "strike zone". Hatsukoi Sankaime was okay-ish, but it felt like only two routes did really "matter" based on the the premisse.

The append dungeons and stuff in 天結いキャッスルマイスター is actually pretty good, and a short one involves Kisnil so if you liked her voice you can get more! For a Eushully title it's not that grindy as well, at least not as much as Alchemy Meister was. I can't remember ever using Iol as a tank, and it's pretty easy to stack up defense buff & items so that anything coming your way only does 1 damage anyway (on normal, hard/level uncapped is something else).

I had a little time last week end and completed Prekano's latest ボクと彼女の研修日誌. It was a game without much surprise but as always with characters that are out of school it felt a little more relatable than then nth occurence of a 2nd year in high-school. The main selling point of the game is the voice of Kitami Rikka as the main heroine, and while the role doesn't really make use of her talent as much as an Asa Project or SMEE game, it felt nice to her again and she could certainly make her character feel cute. The story is pretty standard, but it doesn't indulge into overlong drama so for a quick game it's perfectly fine.

This month, there's probably nothing for me. I'll maybe play 神待ちサナちゃん without expecting much since I like Frill's style but that's about it. That's good, gives me time to go through Karigurashi Renai, and Ojousama ha sunao ni narenai and Making Lovers fandisks at some point.

Something that has been in my mind recently. In one of my threads after I praised how the Squeez brand revived, I believed one dude asked if any other brand from the now defunct TechArts would follow Milk Factory's suit as well. I can sympathize with the feeling of longing since I have a soft spot for the old OLE brand from Tech Arts. It was one of my first ventures into eroge. At the time when that guy asked I was not sure how to respond as unfortunately most staff that worked in those brands do not have much of an online presence (except Derauea and Oginbara. Both quite active on twitter). And it has been some time since some games were released. I was about to give up the ghost and give obituary to the brands long dead until this showed up.

My theory remains relevant. Most new companies DO get defined on the sophomore release of the brand. Now this is an excellent way to make a second release of a new brand. Eroge Reborn! I will be sure to pre-order this as soon as the privileges get revealed. Probably why Mochizuki Nozomu has the twitter set private....I Think.

Level of excitement: :akazukin_rawr:

Finally got Harumina off my backlog. Can’t say anything but it was a very tiring experience. But I’m the type that always finish the book once I start reading it, no matter how bad it is. The protagonist is a no-nonsense shinto priest who is there to help those gods (and humans) with their problems and needless to say he eventually develops feelings for them. The pace is good and the common route is somewhat decent but everything goes south very fast once the common route ends. The romance is pretty screwed-up. Don’t expect a touching story about a man choosing love over duty. This is just about a priest giving in to worldly desire. I can’t feel love between the protag and the heroines throughout their whole routes. The rest mainly consists of arduously long ero-scenes with core story only sprinkled here and there. I’ve said this to many games already but much potential is lost. This game might have been better if they had just remove all the “romance”, or made it a full-fledged nukige.

Now what next for me. More backlog games I guess.

@Frankincense : pretty much what I remember of はるるみなもに!, though I also had troubles finishing up the common route as well. I mostly had issues with the cast being hypocrites and horny, especially when actual disaster is on the line (sure, let's let the town get destroyed by this vengeful ship, this girl here will be sad otherwise!). Protagonist was the worst of the lot, with his ascetic facade hiding a horny dog starving for meat and with no interest for romance. Here's my old post about it on this thread.

I think some people said the normal girl (ie not a god, at least from the start, the pony tail tsundere redhead?) had a better romance than the rest but after the little sister and Mei's I just couldn't bear it anymore, and that was at a time I had so much more patience than now. Congrats for sticking with it to the end.

I still got サキガケ⇒ジェネレーション! installed somewhere around, but I'm kinda scared to start it. Anyone know if it's more like this or closer to the previous ここから夏のイノセンス! that was actually good?

Oh, that thread is dying... Anyway, new eroge released today!
I'm so interested in "Kimi to Tsunagaru Koi Flag", because Studio Ryokucha went bankrupt (unofficially, but it seems so, because their staff goes to new eroge company), and... That Haruka really similar to Ayaka from Natsuiro Koi Uta... REALLY SIMILAR.

Ah, nah, to be honest, I just love the opening song by i.o.sound, and bought the disc with that
Stupid eroge music lover.

With other VNs in this months... Well, I don't know, but Windmill's "Yakusoku no Natsu, Mahoroba no Yume" looks good. Graphic, I mean, don't know about the plot, if all 4 girls have special abilities...
I don't even say about song performed by Duca (love her so much). But I like that coloring.

"Koisuru Kokoro to Mahou no Kotoba" by Hearts... Hm-m... I played the demo of "Natsuiro Kokoro Log", and it was so... so boring, oh my gosh... I don't know what to expect from this. Also, I don't like that art style...

Yeah, that's it.

when did the last time i checked here.... i guess we all grown up and hardly have any time to discuss game like this anymore...

omg i see Frankincense

well if i had time... i'd rather go play games... i got tons of backlog now...

So... I played Nagisa's route in 約束の夏、まほろばの夢. One word: Ouch. I wouldn't call the route bad, but the premisse that lead to all the awkwardness and how it streched through the whole damn route made it a rather tiresome experience. It felt mostly - for me - awkward. The common route was alright, I guess. Not the most interesting, but not completely pointless either. Despite my general love for most of windmill's VNs, I didn't have any particular expectations, though. It's a strange case of that I feel it could have been better, but due to my utter lack of creativity, I can't raelly tell how.

Have you played Hatsukoi Sankaime? How was it?

I did indeed. The overall setting is decent enough, I guess. Personally, I consider only two heroines as "relevant" given the overall concept of the common route, but to be fair, I also only played these two routes. It has its rough parts like Yurino's "fear" of men, yet her very quick natural dialogues with the MC makes it rather a "head scratcher". She's the above mentioned relevant important heroine 1 due to how much the game focused on the MCs falling in love at first sight for her. Another odd point is Rin. For all her being adoarble the supernatural element around her is weird-ish, and the reason for Misaki's (the other "relevant" heroine) very late appearance makes the latter's route felt rather rushed and head-spinnning, even with a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief. But, damn, I'm a huuuge sucker for these sugary moments of Misaki's route.

Yurino's route was sweet overall. The scene leading to her route (and the other routes) was despite its tragic aspect poorly tied to the MCs first attempt of confession. I don't remember too much of the later small drama.
For a bit more spoilery details, if you don't mind them, refer to my remarks on page 333 :)

Hmm... still not many interesting games this month. There's Summer Pockets but I'm not that much of a fan of Key. More backlog clearing again. =\
