Time to break out one of my favorites! 'Battle! Ho-Oh' by Ichinose Go (一之瀬剛) from Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver Versions.
Rock - guitar + Japanese instruments + killer beats & base = awesome.
Lugia definitely got the shaft in these remakes of Pokémon Gold & Silver. Lugia comes out from a waterfall and has a lame theme; Ho-Oh swoops down to you from the sky, radiates gold light as it flaps its wings, and you battle it atop a frigging tower! And, of course, it has the better theme.
The Japanese seem to love this theme, too: according to an internet survey of the best Japanese-sounding game music, Ho-Oh's theme is No.1.
Margarie Margarita, AKA Valentina's theme by Shimomura Yoko (下村陽子) from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I'd love to see a harpsichord & guitar duet of this song.
You know, this theme makes Valentina look like a female Kefka on a smaller scale: They both have somewhat frantic and crazy (and at the same time, regal) music--not to mention that creepy laughter and that both their themes sort of sound like Bach. (well, Dancing Mad Part 3 really but whatever)
My favourite track to one of my all time favourite 2 player games...Twinkle Star Sprites on the Neo Geo !
this game is pure cuteness anime sytle action overkill !!!
Battle! Colress by Sato Hitomi (佐藤仁美) and Ichinose Go (一之瀬剛) from Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 Versions.
This is the first music I heard in Pokémon that has easily distinguishable human voices. The countdown really adds to the futuristic tone of the song...
