I can't. I already asked my post office. I will always be paying the fees. There's no going around it, not even lowering it. It's just how my country rolls..
But it's usually the case for bigger/more expensive items from abroad AND their shipping method. EMS always gives me import/custom fees. But since these figures are quite expensive I'd rather pay the fees than get a damaged box/figure.

I think in the US it actually depends on what state you live in. Some states might have taxes, others won't.
