I'm not sure since I didn't pick Chespin, you can always raise his stats with the "super training" option.
Cool, you should pick Fraokie if you start over :D BTW, I don't like stores much either that's why I downloaded my copy from the eShop. Especially since there probably would have been like a billion people at GameStop waiting in line for Pokémon.
