When starting a new game do you switch all the options to the left?! (I always do that)
Yeah, it activates everything. Otherwise you might not carry over some things.

Ability: Growth: When it kills enemy subordinate, remove this card from field and play a grown-up version from hand or deck
0707 Grown-up version, 3 cost, 2 commanding power, 7HP, 6 Attack.
Ability 1: When this card comes out, it cannot perform any actions, and has a dodge status. This card cannot come out to play other than by specific ability activation.
Ability 2: Attack: When enemy leader takes 10 or more damage(in a single attack, not total), remove this card from field and play a awakened form from hand or deck.
0708 Awakened version, 5 cost, 2 commanding power, 12HP, 12 Attack.
Ability 1: When this card comes out, it cannot perform any actions, and has a dodge status. This card cannot come out to play other than by specific ability activation.
Ability 2: All field abilities are negated!!
Anyway, it is interesting in many ways... If you boost the attack of both the youth and grown up, you can probably get it to "evolve" every turn. And if you have a +1 commanding power to Awakened version... Rather interesting idea don't you think? 1 Commanding Power-> 2 Commanding Power -> 3 Commanding Power
