Hello everyone~

If you're reading visual novels and depend on translation programs and text hookers, here's a small guide into the new ITH (Interactive Text Hooker) that has been developed.

I'll update more if there are people who need help with other things. For now, I'll just show the basics of ITH and a few things about Translation Aggregator (TA).

I'm sure there are people who use Chiitrans. That's also another choice, but this thread will focus more on ITH and Translation Aggregator.

Quick Note

- Some of the things in this guide may require ATLAS, a translation program.
- Here is the site for those unfamiliar: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/services/software/translation/atlas/downloads/

Like I mentioned, this small guide is to mainly help people with ITH and TA. I won't go into detail about ATLAS, but I would recommend it for 'quick, overall translations'.

Interactive Text Hooker

1. First thing you should check is when you open ITH and your game...

- Go to ITH and press the 'Process' button.
- Search for the name of your game.
- Click the game's name and click 'Add Profile'. Press 'OK'.

Here's an example below. My game's name is 'PersonA'.

step.png

2. To make sure it's added, go to ITH and press 'Profile'.

Here's an example below. As you can see, the game is added.

step1.png

3. Next, go to ITH and press 'Option'. Make sure these are checked and press 'OK'.

- Auto attach
- Auto insert
- Auto copy to clipboard
- Auto suppress repetition

These enable the translation from Japanese to English and captures the text.

Here's an example below.

step2.png

4. In ITH, insert the hook you have in that rectangular white box.

I'll be using my hook /HW4@42E3A2.

As you can see below, my text is all jumbled repeated Japanese...

step3.png

5. After you type the hook and press 'Enter', you then press 'Hook' on ITH.

Scroll to find your hook. It should be labelled 'UserHook' or labelled with the numbers and letters you inserted as the hook. Then select that hook and press 'OK'.

See below for the example.

Step4.png

6. Click the text/dialogue box in your game or anywhere so ITH can detect/pick up the text with its new hook you inputted.

See below... just click somewhere so ITH can generate your new hook.

step5.png

7. Go back to the front of ITH, and scroll until you find 'UserHook' or whichever new hook you inputted, and pick the hook that corresponds and displays the right text for your game.

See below for the example.

step6.png

Result: It should generate the text like this picture below.

step7.png

8. Go to ITH, and press 'Save'. This saves the hook and makes sure that if you open ITH again, the hook you used will be there the next time you play.

9. Please close/exit ITH. Then open it up again. If you did it correctly, when you press 'Profile', you should see your hook.

Here is an example.

Translation Aggregator

Once you have downloaded TA and saved it in a suitable location, please check the following things to get you started.

1. Please download Mecab and the edict files for Jparser.

Mecab

- Download Mecab here: http://code.google.com/p/mecab/downloads/list
- If you haven't installed Mecab before, download the '.exe' (execution file).
- If you have installed it before, just download the updates with the extensions '.tar.gz'.
- When installing, choose a dictionary other than 'UTF16' like 'UTF8'.

Jparser

- Download Jparser here: http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/edict_doc.html
- Download either 'edict.gz' or 'edict2.gz' or both.
- Decompress it and put it in TA's 'dictionaries' folder.

Please see below if you aren't sure.

la1.png

la2.png

2. Open TA, click 'Tools', and make sure these two things are checked.

- Translate from = Japanese
- Translate to = English

Here's an example just in case.

aggr1.png

aggr2.png

3. If you have done it correctly, you can open TA with ITH and your game running.

As you can see below, Jparser can translate text if you hover over the word. You can see Mecab is functioning and the other translation boxes as well.

Extra Tip for Translation Aggregator

If you would like to see your game's top menu bar in English, please do the following.

1. When you open TA, go to 'Tools', and go to 'Launch Text Hooker'.

If you're not sure, here's a picture.

steps3.png

2. Find your game and double-click it or press 'Open'. Once done, please click 'OK'.

Here's an example. My game is 'PersonA'.

steps4.png

3. Hover over your game's menu bar and it should change to English.

See below for an example.

Solution to Wolf RPG

Give thanks to Abdalmaus ; and Sakimichi ; for their time and effort in providing the solution.

1.
/Ks2 should work, but if no one can answer you question I suggest using VNR. https://code.google.com/p/annot-player/
WolfEngine doesn't need any hook codes and the repetitions are already removed.
Plus Chiitrans2 is already an abandonware.
5Kz2tW4fJb.jpg

Go to preferences and do this:

Run the game and Go to options:

2.
Update
If anyone ever run into the same problem as me:
Run the game through agth separately instead of trying to start it from Chii.
Command line I was recommended is: "c:/agth.exe" /c /x3 /kf64:16 /ks2 "game.exe"
Turn on Chii after you set it with the right monitored thread on AGTH.
Check "Enable clipboard monitoring" on Chii and "Check for repeating phrases"
If you're using ChiiTrans2, just run game and select "AGTH inject (...)"

Now I got both software working as I wanted
VNR is perfect for me to play VNs and some other games on fullscreen (specially with widescreen)
And Chii for windowed RPGs!

I take no credit on that solution, I'm not sure if I can mention other forums here.

hello all,

Maybe someone know how to fix this problem. I'm playing Kuro to Kin no Akanai Kagi now, created userhook. Text is fine when is just story telling, but, when character saying something, text just messing up. Something like that :

【郁人】「【郁人】【郁人】姉【郁人】【郁人】貴【郁人】【郁人】、【郁人】【郁人】入【郁人】【郁人】る【郁人】【郁人】ぞ【郁人】【郁人】」【郁人】【郁人】【郁人】

Please, help me

Hmm...I haven't played Kuro to Kin no Akanai Kagi before, but I looked around for some solutions.

First, are you using the h-code "/HAN-C@43ECAC" ? If you are, I read that you needed to patch the game with the version 1.1 patch for the code to work. Here's a post you can refer to:
http://vocaotome.tumblr.com/post/30510821084/what-h-code-you-used-to-play-kuro-to-kin-no-akanai
also here:
http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showt...extraction-tool-for-games-translation/page600
(control-f kuro to kin non akanai kagi)

If you have already patched the game or it just didn't work, try reading this:
http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showt...e-Text-Hooker-new-text-extraction-tool/page38
(control-f kuro)

If you still can't get the game to work, try downloading a user dictionary/replacement scripts for ATLAS. They should help fix the translations for ATLAS in some situations (such as slang, honorifics, etc.). Here's a good link for more information on ITH/ATLAS: http://amaenboda.wordpress.com/2012/03/26/an-aero-gamers-guide-to-using-atlas/

Scroll down and click: "The Replacement Script" under "The Replacement Script and Other Add-ons" (or just control-f). Once you click the link, you will see a couple add-ons made to recognize Japanese names in games so that it doesn't translate improperly (like translating the name into a phrase). Download TAHPlugin or TAHelper; you don't need both. Please read carefully so you can decide which one is right for you. Read everything.

When you get down to "The Replacement Script", just download and follow the instructions. You could also download the FHC user dictionary, though it's not being updated anymore.

Hopefully someone else can add their insight on this.

I bought a new notebook and I simply can't translate anything. Only appears "ああ ああ ああ ああ ああ ああ ああ あ". Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? This is the first time it happens. I'm trying to play (if it matters) "Dot Kareshi ~ We're 8bit lovers~". This "あ ああ ああ" problem is also happening with AGTH... I need help!

Well, the image is self-explanatory!

Try using the following

.
On the first site of this thread is a tutorial regarding how to use h-codes if you haven't seen it already :)

Oh, I understand now. I just had to put the H-code. I'm so stupid! Hahaha Well, this was the first time I had to do this "h-code" thing... Thank you "Puma" for taking your time to answer my question.

I have a problem in step one, I can't click add profile, here is the screenshot:

1.jpg

I have downloaded ITH-2.3-110709 + ITH64-project-1.0 + ITH_UpdaterV3 + edict & edict2 + mecab-0.996 + mecab-jumandic-7.0-20130310 + Atlas 14 cracked version and I am running it as Administator (I am using Win 7 64bit).

Also I don't understand step 4 where do you get that hook can I just use the one in the first post HW4@42E3A2 ?

PS: I am trying to read Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete FLIGHT DIARY

Can anyone help me please?

Uninstall the game, change your system localization for non unicode programs to Japan, install the game again and try again.

And each game has a different hook. Some don't even need one at all. Go to google and type in "*game title* agth" or `hook`instead of `agth`. If you find a hongfire link, than open it, they often have one :)

My system localization is allredy set to Japan. zad38 told me to press Atach before Add Profile and it worked but now I am stack at finding a hook. I google "Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete FLIGHT DIARY agth" but I didn't find one. If there isn't one, wath then I need to do?

If there's no h-code and ITH doesn't recognize it manually (you can change between some predefined h-codes in the dropdown menu) you can write one, but I don't know how to do that, sry.

I don't know if it recognizes it manually, the OP didn't say anything about that. So how do I check that? And if it does recognize it manually how do I proceed from there?

Follow the guide on the first page but leave out step 4 and 5. Which means, open the game and ITH, attach the game in ITH and then start the game. Then start the game until you can see the first lines of text (the menu doesn't count). After you clicked the second time to go onwards with the text ITH should have recognized some of the h-codes. Then go back to the guide on the first page and look on the picture of step 7. The "UserHook0" ones are hooks you entered yourself, everything else in there (like the "GetGlyphOutlineW") is created by ITH. Choose one of them, click onwards in the game and look if ITH somehow works with them.
Some games work just fine without h-codes, like Majikoi and sometimes they recognize everything with exception of the names.

I manage to do it but I have two problems. First text doesn't show itself in TA and second text in ITH and in VN are strange despite my system locale being in Japanese.

Here is a screenshot.

1.jpg

Edit: forget it I manage to make it work, I just needed to change "current location" to Japanese as well for text to be shown normally. Once it does TA also recognize it and start doing it job. Thanks for everything.

The strange text was the reason why I thought you hadn't changed your system locale already. But it's good that everything is settled now. No problem and have fun playing/reading :)

Hello, I need help with something..

How do I incorporate all the translation program such as Bing, Google, and other to work at once.
I followed all the steps but some of the program doesn't work and some doesn't translate the wording in the VN game.

I use this steps on Princess Lover! game...

Close ITH and the game and open TA. In TA click on "Window" and there you can select all your sites for the translation. I use Bing, Google, Honyaku and ATLAS for the English translation and Mecab for the kanji to romanji translation. If you want to use ATLAS as well you need to install it first on your PC (the same goes for Mecab).

PS: Bing gives you an error sometimes and I don't know the reason behind this. And if I were you, I would use Honyaku in any case, since in my opinion it has the best translation. Then you can use the other two to complement if you don't understand something :)

Edit: Then close TA and follow the guide on the first step again.

Which translation program is accurate or at least very close translation to the original japanese text?

please agrregator stop working then it said "unable to create socket hooking engine won't work " after thar that I deleted my aggregator and extract another agrregator to my reserved zip but it is not hooking the text of my game again

TA.png

Need help lately TA has been acted strangely on google translate. This acted about a month ago and i didnt see any new version update on TA

appearently the problem affected with everything this include when im copy the jp word from website so it doesnt seem only from the game only but problem persist in general.
I tried using a new downloaded TA but problem still happen, since copy word from website still the same i guess its not my agth problem

Ith is a great program but to play the newer games you need a code. So i was wondering if anybody knew how to generate a code for a game. I want to learn how to do it and I tried google with no success.

Someone could help me from today in the google translate block only apper blank sheet anything else. Same problem someone?

Same issue with google translate. 'Requesting data' pops up momentarily, but instead of vanishing and being replaced by the translated text, it remains blank.

Google probably changed something on their end with the translation api so TA can't properly communicate.
