There definitely are different types of silver
but maybe anything that has silver atoms can detect poison

Well maybe theyll have different changes or something xD Impure silver probably wouldnt change quite as much would it?~

Pretty much, as other atoms will not change color when exposed to poison

Hmm...
I don't know if there are any transition metals that have the same chemical properties as silver (as the number of their outer-shell electrons are different)

Lol well just needs to be material that gets darker when in contact with poison~

Hmm, someone asked in yahoo answers
"Does silver really change color in the presence of poison?
I ask this because I'm interested in some Chinese history where nobles and royality would drink and eat with silverware to be aware if they're being poisoned. Is this true? If so how and why does it happen?"

and someone with the username rachelle answered

I guess it does detect poison w
『How did you come to that conclusion if she just repeated the question? xD』

I forgot to copy the answer that someone with the username rachelle gave ww

Ahh that xD Hmm... well... i believe that is has some effect ;p Umineko also mentions the use of silver to detect poison~

They should cook for themselves, then they will know that there are definitely no poisons.
Except if they have a split personality and the other "person" puts poison on their dishes

And what are the chances of that happening and them not burning a hole in the palace? ;p

Unless they're ridiculously retarded, they will at least know what to do and what not to do w

Lol dont the royalty of movies always seem to be in their own world or unrealistically good at stuff? ;p I do believe that the first view is somewhat more accurate for most royal families~ Or at least i thinking of the idiot king and queen of the french rev atm~ And certain others~

Just so you know I don't watch a lot of movies (once or twice a year actually XD) and I never encountered such things w

makes me wonder... how did the very first king/queen/king & queen in the world became king and queen...

Hmm... well the first was probably actually a good leader but then every next generation... well probably worsens...

Something like that..
The first king and queen are great leaders, people starts to serve them because of their greatness.
Their child will be the next leader because they have the same blood and people believe they will have the same quality as their parents.
Since they are the king and queen, they must be served by people to show their "greatness" to other citizens
However, the first king & queen are normal people at first (working, doing things by oneself, etc) and they have experience, but their children are already served by people at very young age instead of doing things by themselves, this cause them to be unable to do things that normal people can.

But not all kings and queens are like that though XD
