What sort of equipment is effective against SS?

As far as I'm concern the best set up for E1 is 5DD and 1CL, it seems to reach boss node 100% of the time when I tried it provided my ship isn't red at the 3rd node (which only happened once). So therefore the 4 equipment you'll use are the following: Type 93 Sonar, Type 94 Depth Charge, Type 3 Sonar and Type 3 Depth Charge on your fleet. However do note that E1 boss node have a LoS check apparently. So put some Radar in to meet the LoS requirement will be good. Even though E1 majority of the nodes are Sub only, do note that the pre-boss node is not sub only, and I shall advice you to go Line Ahead instead of the Line Abreast formation which you use for ASW warfare, as Line Ahead seems to minimise damage done to your fleet!

Against SS - Depth Charges and Sonars.

I decided to take this event easy. As do no not have decent equipment for my girls. So will go with easy mode to get some new kanmusu.

And yes, even though they introduced Tiered system, I find it extremely awkward that the Dev decided to put E1 to be a Sub heavy map, as most noob Admiral will not have any ASW equipments (they're all crafted only or a few rare ships have them) and ASW equipment is essential to make SS node 10x easier, since ASW actually is not just base stats, but you benefit most from the actual equipment as some JP TTK found.

Yes, Depth charge and Sonar have synergy, you can't just deck your ships with 3x Sonar even though it provide best stats + accuracy. Most efficient set up at the moment is 2x Sonar + 1 Depth Charge on your DD/CL

[EDIT] E1 cleared, 7 sortie, one retreat, one unclean kill, five clean kills. Overall not bad, going to make a crack on E2 and I'll post the rewards + compositions after someone posted so it won't be clot up in this big massive post

[EDIT 2] First E2 attempt, reach boss node, couldn't clear it completely. I might try Line ahead instead of Double Line.

Bah fuck, I only have 4 Depth Charges and 0 Sonars. They never came despite Developing every time :(

I tried attempting Normal difficulty but I'm only chipping away at the boss hp. I'm thinking of switching to Easy, since drops aren't that affected and AB seems to be getting rather decent drops! (You're still on Easy, aren't you?)

I cleared both E-1 and E-2 on easy, normal is too much.
Only have 2 depth charges.

chocolate: You can change it for 700 Fuel, Steel, Ammo, and 1500 Bauxite.

Are you still able to change the difficulty despite clearing a map? I'm thinking of trying Normal first, and if it doesn't get any easier after this SS-infested E-1 map I'll switch to Easy. I'm almost halfway through the boss' hp.

After having cleared E-1, we can choose the difficulty in E-2 again. It will be able to be repeated many times.

..., you will not be able to change difficulty once you cleared a map, also at any point during which you change difficulty, the boss HP bar will RESET.

Wow... I'm still sitting and leveling :D. I attempt medium for both E-1 and E-2. Not sure for E-2 but i think i can clear E-1 in medium, just need 2 more DD above 30.
Fleet will use for E-1: Isuzu 35, Yubari 36, Yudachi 51 ( if can i want her kai 2 before clear E-1 ), Shigure 40, Yukikaze and Fubuki ( In leveling to 30 >.< ). I have 5 sonars ( 2 type 3 and 3 type 93 ), 7 type 94 depth charge. If E-1 medium is not harder than 1-5 HQ 40 then i should be fine. The problem is those low level DD can evade the opening torpedo or not. I'll try but if it's too hard then i have to say goodbye to the Reppu 601 ;_;.

I can't imagine E1 being much harder than Medium, but like I said, having the right equipment is the key in clearing E1, the map itself is simple and easy, its just having the ASW you need.

Well i saw my brother clear hard E-1. Enemies is not that hard but yeah his girls are level 60~70 so i dunno.
For E-2 i plan to use support expedition. Just read about it few hours ago :D. Beside E-2 can use BB and CV :x so i hope for medium.
E-2 ~ E-5: easy mode. I just want new girls :D. Btw i'm exited for using rengo kantai. It's really really awesome ^^.

Congratulation on clearing E1!

If you want to burn resource, go for it, its just a matter of chipping the Boss bar down. But you'll really struggle, since I'm sending my best fleet in and they still get trolled pre-boss quite hard, even reaching boss node clean kill is not guarantee. If you want to proceed to E5 then I would say go for the easier option considering how badly your ships are leveled if I remembered correctly. But if you want the 5 star gun then go for Hard mode.

The fleet I'm using is 96 Kongou Kai Ni, 86 Haruna Kai Ni, Jun'You 80, 95 Akagi, 77 Kitakami and 69 Shigure all with best equipment you can find and also pretty much all Fully modernized. So yea, expect to get a jump from E1 if you're going for E2 hard mode.

For now this event pretty good for me. New girls in my collection: I-8, Agano, Akigumo, Hyuuga, Akashi
