hmmm if a thing is quite random, such as inventory system, probably it'll take a while to think about the algorithm... and upside down cursor isn't quite comfortable i think..

a hairpin maybe a nice idea.. I'll design the hairpin later
 
Is it... well idk... feather wouldnt look that great pointing up? xD Doesnt seem like it would take too much to get used to the pointer being on the bottom corner... :/
 
not really upside-down. I was just referring to the functionality of the cursor as the feather without the arrow.

Wouldn't the use of an inventory system make it seem like a flash game? nice idea though but may look like a dating sim rather than a VN especially during periods of free roaming. but it may be easier in terms of programming if during events/scenes requiring specific items there would only be an inventory check rather than manually inspecting the characters inventory. :goodtea:
 
The items could be used automatically too~ I'm pretty sure the story could work with or without them~ Just adding a little extra words and code maybe. Since all the scenes would be planned to go in an order or wtv, they'd not miss any items :P
To actually use the items manually would mean to create a guide of what to do, since there might be some people that won't figure it out.

items would be pretty much pointless if they just found them without free roam though. but if you do intend to have free roam, limit it so you can't go to every location (this increases replayability, may be time-based such as morning, mid-day, and afternoon or basically you can just roam a specific number of times), then put in a special item that can be found during free roam at specific locations at specific times (this is good if you intend to put in BONUS scenes or side stories that are not directly related to the main story) then afterwards end with a forced location selection where the character finds the required item and continue on or not for an alternate ending.

this of course takes into account auto item checks at specific points in the story for triggers. :goodtea:

@thecoins are you asking if it is a good idea or how should it look like?

is cartoon-like feather good idea? if not, how about wing symbol similar to Tsubasa reservoir chronicles as hairpin?
 
as a cursor it would be important that there would be no confusion on which end is the "pointer" so if you're designing the hairpin based on that then... a wing would be more pleasing to look at but you'll have to talk to snowangel, after all she's making the story and character development. It would be a good idea base the hairpin on the characters personality.

it just struck me, there are two characters right? if one is a hairpin (female char) then the other should be a brooch (male char) with a similar them. Also regarding the cursor you could put a disable custom cursor in the game if they get distracted by it. i believe it's easier to just disable it than having a choice. Or the cursor could be character specific as indicators of which character you are controlling.

A wing hairpin would be cute though. but perhaps too cute :fag:
 
hmmm accessory for male... probably some wing shaped necklace or amulet?
 
an amulet might be too big. hmm. perhaps a choker? it would work well with the last art for the male character. or maybe a pin that can be put on his clothes.
 
Oh I forgot, if you go with the wings theme and the story involves the two characters getting together you might want those accessories to be mirrors of each other if you know what I mean. ^^
 
The feather can look like it's just on top of her hair for now~ It can be smallish, just to know that it's there :3
I'd rather not go with wings, especially if there's similar things planned -.-~ overdoing angel-related stuff would certainly water down things further into the story. Wings are also a little more common.

For the guy, you could either give him a ring (which he obtains much later) or a amulet/necklace (Which would work better~).
He might get both~ idk :f
I can't say whether or not a necklace would have to do with anything, or what it might look like for a certain purpose. If he has it for himself, it'll look something like this symbol inside~

The color can be about the same as that, or up to you~


Objects will be important, whether or not you obtain them in an inventory. The objects will have nothing to do with each other and be as different as they can~ It'll be one of the things that stands out in per character.

Suggestion: A special CG image of the characters drawn by the creators. They get the CG after they complete the normal route as well as the hidden routes.
 
Hmm wasnt there going to be an amulet that the girl gets from the neighbors? That might be a decent cursor depending how it looks~

is the amulet an important thing?
 
for now, you don't have to worry about the amulet. Depending on how the story progresses, it might become important much later.
Probably halfway or near the end of making the story I'll know for sure.
