A couple of reasons...you mentioned fog at times, but not like along the peninsula; "university" there are two in SF, a few down the peninsula, and then there's Santa Clara and San Jose. Since you never mentioned the cold, I'd guess either San Jose or Santa Clara.

Actually I live where youre going to move xD The place where all the fog originates ;p I can watch it roll up the cliff =w= I expect it to be quite heavy in a day or two after indian summer... can barely see a couple yards around :/ Hmm.. have i never mentioned cold? O.o I guess not recently xD
