Yes Sammy, no final fantasy story is linked to one another nor are the characters. Its always different story with a different set of characters. Unless they say in the name "Final Fantasy X-2" or "Final Fantasy XIII-2" stuff like that, those do go off the same characters/stories.

No relation at all. It's good because sticking to one story for over 14 games is a bit repetitive. Which is why the story in fighting games are criticized a lot.
