Well yeah, if you are doing DDL, most sites will only give you about that for speed (or less). Mega is pretty great though. Normally just about maxes my connection, if I can get links to there. :D

If you are torrenting though, it could be that your internet provider throttles p2p connections (if your speed test is accurate). I think there are various ways you could try to test to fix that, though you might want to look up if your ISP is known for throttling or not.

Oh, well if mega if that is your mega speed then I'm not sure. Maybe you got a faulty reading on the site or something. Still might be worth it to look into if you are being throttled though. There are a few ways to try to get around it, and if one works and you DO suddenly get over 1mb/s of traffic... that sounds like it would be worth the bother :D (and if not you still will learn all kinds of cool junk!!!)

Just look up your ISP's name, and a keyword like throttle. Maybe some question words in there. Then see if it applies to your area. Should be answers in forums and such.

Throttling means that they impede certain types of connections, or connections to certain types of services. It is not too uncommon for them to throttle p2p (peer to peer) connections, which are what torrents use. So while you might be supposed to be able to get over 1mbps on your torrents, they would max you out at say 300kbps.

I use usb modem and the DL speed is around 200-300 kbps but the quota is low so I hardly use it for DL. But in my friend's house the speed is 500++ kbps lol. But I need more than 1 mbps speed for my own x_x lol

It seems a little high for me too. I'm pretty sure my connection is around 1.4MBps, and I'm getting around 16Mbps (looks like they use megabits, so that is about 2 megabytes per second) on the test. It might be some issue with how they test it.

3.4 isn't even all that fast though. I know people from work who have around 9MBps.

He said every now and then he will find a movie he wants to torrent/watch, start the download, and then go get snacks. By the time he is back at his computer it is normally just about done. XD


@sam well with the new fiber connections there should be people with a gigabit connection both up and down. So that is pretty wicked fast.
