konbini stands for "convenience store". I think it is weird word. I don't know why it is not "convenient store".

I think the Japanese shortened "Convenience store" into "Conveni(ence store)" => コンビニ
Sou suru to motto iiyasui to omoimasu.

I use the words コンビニ, and コンビニエンスストア. コンビニエンスストア is apparently derived from convenience store.

I don't think too much into this but I think that "Convenience Store" is a proper noun, and not "convenient store", which is saying that the store is in fact convenient but I guess it's not a name..?

便利な店 (Convenient Store)：形容詞＋名詞

Something like that I guess, though I don't really know why either. :P

My Japanese isn't that good, but I guess it's something like this:

"That is a convenient store."
「あれは便利な店です。」

"Why don't you go to the convenience store?"
「コンビニに行ったらどうですか。」

But it would feel odd to replace convenience store with convenient store.

You are saying that it feels unnatural to say 便利店 instead of コンビニ despite both words meaning the same thing right?
(I might be confusing myself here and I don't think this is the right place to post this kinda stuff >.>)
