@shin it is more that the chip you selected is not a -K chip (an overclockable chip). They are generally a few bucks more, but then you can go as fast as you want (with whatever cooling you have).

Once again, like many times before, I have to say this: I don't think RAM does what you think it does.
RAM is so badly miss-advertised. :/

@Shin, I didn't look at it too close but if it doesn't have the K, it will still be pretty limited. If you are thinking about overclocking, you might as well get the K model. It isn't like they cost that much more.

of course. it's called diablo for a reason. actually, i figured that i should just get a good amount of ram when i'm able to. the ram is the last thing i'm going to upgrade though. my current 8 gb will be fine for a while

It's things like this that make me realize that I must do a ridiculous amount of research compared to the average person, considering that I've only actually built two machines.

Ram you aren't using is wasted ram, which is wasted money. If you aren't doing something that uses lots of ram (one of the only things of which I can think of is 3d imaging), then buying 32GB is a waste of money. To figure out if you need more ram, look at your task manager when you are doing some more intensive task (such as running diablo) and see how much it is actually using. I would be surprised if it went much over a few GB.

I kind of doubt 1GB would get you THAT far. Just with my normal things open (two browsers, torrents, and maybe some music/other small tasks) I'm normally sitting at a little over 3GB. I got 16GB, because I was thinking about trying out some 3d stuff, but then I changed directions in life and that is no longer that big of an interest for me.
