I doubt that, but it could happen.
I wouldn't be surprised for the next step to be some kind of flash memory rather than a disk though.

I'll always prefer owning something physical rather than digital... Read an article a while back that argued that because we as humans will always prefer high-touch over high-tech, hence things will never cease to exist in some physical form
