From my perspective, the winning team will come down to whoever randomly votes first and I mean randomly since it's a random chance who the Mafia boss is. As you have said, their roles are revealed after they are killed off. As to when this is revealed, I'm not sure but I'm guessing it's during the same phase and will only go well if we are constantly being updated on who's alive and what not. If so, what if team A are the first to pick and they luckily pick the Mafia boss right off the bat as his role is revealed straight away? This pretty much means the game is over as everyone will just pick the Mafia boss, unless you plan on giving everyone their abilities too before the game starts (and the only way I see the boss being saved is if you give someone a broken ability that can save him from all those votes for one turn, or everyone has the same ability to cut down a vote).
The ability to vote off one person straight away is in itself what I see as the broken side to multi-lynching. since it cuts down how many votes a team can make overall. If at least 3/8 members are online and they can vote off a person that is offline during the start off the game, it already gives off an unfair advantage. It would also mean that the other team will have to use an ability to save that person, meaning they are at a disadvantage having already lost an ability they could have used on someone else. With this, you can have 2 members cut off from the game and have 1 severely injured. The other advantage of this is that you will have at least 2 members unconfirmed in your team, which may prove to be a bonus. This is not including being able to use abilities too. With them, it's possible to take out more than 2 members on the first day.
Regarding abilities, I'm also guessing every character will have different abilities, but the abilities on each side will be somewhat similar. There will also be a mix between offensive and defensive abilities such as being able to give off more than one vote to a person, vote off more than one person at a time, or even avoid all votes at any given time. Maybe the ability to even revive a fallen member like in the previous Mafia game. There may even be tactical abilities such as having the ability to ask for the role of a person you name. If, say, a person activates their ability right off the bat, will their role be given away? Or if a person uses an ability after the votes have been casted on them, which part takes priority: the votes first or the ability? Because if a group has already given their votes to a person and then they activate their ability , it's kind of unfair that the votes have just been wasted like so. It is also the reason as to why I'm asking it's possible for abilities to activate straight away since it would be fair for all those votes to be negated had the ability been activated straight away, if you understand the point I'm trying to get across (given that there is an ability that can block 3 votes, then expire). Another question relating to the activation of abilities: Will you guys also be mentioning if any abilities are activated or hidden? I'd understand if there are some abilities that prevent you from being revealed or some that say which character (not sure) has used what ability. With this in mind, using abilities straight away is another way of playing the game given that we are given offensive abilities to use from the start and what not. It may even be possible to use to nuke a player with abilities if used in conjunction with voting off a member at a time.
