Title: JAST USA Memorial Collection Special Edition
Publishers: JAST USA
Release Date: 2012-06-28
VNDB: https://vndb.org/r21557
Finally shared for the first time on the internet! I was never able to find it anywhere before I bought it anyway. Hard to believe I'm posting this on the 5th anniversary of the collection's release. The Special Edition is very different from the original JAST USA Memorial Collection. Season of the Sakura, Runaway City and Three Sisters' Story have all gotten major improvements - a new engine that runs on modern and 64-bit Windows, a higher quality soundtrack, improved graphics...everything you can improve on a classic eroge has pretty much been improved. Anyone who remembers these games will definitely want to check it out. And possibly even consider buying it, as it's down to 5 bucks now.
This collection also features the Milky House Memorial, with May Club and Nocturnal Illusion. As I can't get them to run on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise no matter what I do, and they say they are 16-bit applications when I try to run them, I am assuming nothing has been changed with these. No perfectly working May Club DX and Noctural Illusion Renewal in English as part of me secretly hoped, unfortunately.
For anyone who remembers any of the games in the JAST USA Memorial Collection, this is a must have. If I knew I would have liked it this much I would have bought it much sooner.
Description:
These are five great classic dating-sim games that every true collector of dating-sims should try. While the games are old -- they lack voice and were originally DOS ports, although the new engine is totally compatible with modern Windows now -- they are really fun. Season of the Sakura is still one of my favorite games, and Three Sister's Story was the very first game we ever did. We can't help but recommend this collection of classic bishoujo games!
The totally new game engine support anti-aliased graphics, new background features, and more. The new engine that drives the games supports cool new features, including new anti-aliased graphics and screen effects that improve game play. The music has been resampled for better sound, and all game music is made available to users in high-bit rate MP3 format as a bonus on the disc. They are full CG and music rooms, allowing you to enjoy the graphics and music in the games, and many game play improvements, including an updated skip feature, joystick and mouse scroll wheel support, and more. And perhaps best of all, the totally redesigned games are fully compatible with modern Windows OS computers, including Windows XP -- the original games no longer function under current Windows OS systems.
Three Sisters' Story
The one that started it all! A complex story in which you team up with your older brother Eiji to get revenge on the three daughters of the man responsible for your own father's suicide. For several months you work to bring about the downfall of your father's enemy, but along the way you realized you've come to love the three sisters -- sexy, grown-up Yuki, short-tempered but sensitive Emi and the innocent Risa -- and would do anything to save them.
Season of the Sakura
A complex and fun harem-style visual novel/dating sim from the mid 1990s that was made right around the time classics like Evangelion, Magical Knight Rayearth and Saint Saint Tail were on the air... since the game incorporates these characters into the story. The gameplay is fun, with a much more complex story than many games made today, and lots of endings.
Runaway City
I have the power of Good Luck... It's true. I win at pachinko whenever I play, and when it rains and I'm stuck without an umbrella, a girl appears out of nowhere to let me share hers. No matter what I do, my power never lets me down. My good luck enabled me to survive when my family decided to commit suicide together ten years ago. I wish my mother had been as lucky, but she died, leaving Dad and me to carry on. There is one thing about my power: it's getting stronger. Someday it seems like it may swallow all of Japan...
