You get the Good Rod in Coumarine City. It's the City after Shalour City, the one with the 4th Gym.
So it's gonna take a while for you I think :o

I forgot about the Old Rod an Super Rod though =/

Well my Emma was lvl 30 so she was on the way to reach lvl 31 and wouldn't obey me if that happened because I got her through a trade with Quay. I used my Gloom against a trainer in the gym. His Solrock and Lunatone took 3 super effective Mega Drains in their faces before each one died so getting hit by a total of 6 Psywaves (they had more Speed than my Gloom) hurt quite alot Gloom also needed the lvls she got from that gym :/

Also, I don't know if this is good or bad but I finished the 2nd gym and my pokemon that I use are lvl 27, 28 and 31.

Just to give you an idea, my pokes levels at that gym was 22, 23 and 21 xD

I really don't get how everyone else's pokemon level that much =/
I must be doing something wrong here. I mean Inori has a lv 70 Blaziken and she doens't even have the 8th Badge yet. I'm on my way to the 8th Gym City and my strongest is a Lv. 53 Greninja/snorlax/Talonflame

I have been trying to catch a lot of different Pokémon in each area which caused me to level up a bit more, so that's probably why I was at a higher level when I reached the 2nd gym. Also I am really only using 3 Pokémon

I'm also only using 3 pokemon. My Marill/Azumarill gains boosted exp though since she's traded. But that wouldn't really that much of a difference would it? I got a Snorlax at lvl 22, Mawile at lvl 22, Azumarill at lvl 31, Gloom at lvl 28 and a Quilladin at lvl 29 now.
