I was always wondering that how the people in the Anime-Sharing started to play Eroge/Visual Novels, of course other than it's 18+ and also how they first found Anime-Sharing, so if you are somehow still awake and for some reason still reading this long bundle of words..... tell me....the reason why you Eroge/ Visual Novels.

It's fine to be honest but if it's private for some reason and you don't want to post it, just read the other user's post

It's my first time on this part of Anime-Sharing so if I placed this thread in a wrong place, feel free to tell me.

Why...
Because I find it entertaining & enjoyable.

How It started......
decided to read Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji after finishing it, I picked up another vn then another.
Leading to the current state of affairs, ... which one next.

For me, it started with this fascination I had for erotic materials. Right from the start I found out that just plain old porno vids weren't doing it for me, I needed something more meaningful than seeing some skin and rubbing one out. Finally I found the wonderful world composed of walls of text where worlds and situations that made my heart race were but a single click (or several repeated clicks) away. It was like living my childhood again with my nose buried in my favorite book except this book wasn't really for children and its in a different language from the one I learned growing up. In many ways, eroge helped me learn a lot about myself and the world around me. In fact, I'm still drawing wisdom and pleasure from the media while pursuing my career in writing.

Just kidding. I'm currently using the 2D world and the romance simulator that are eroge as crutches because the real world has broken my heart too many times.

I stumbled upon Eroge/Visual Novels by soundtracks on youtube. I am a big fan of doujin music and japanese music in general, so during the time i used youtube as the main source for music, i would click on related videos to songs i liked. I ended up at G-senjou no Maou soundtracks and i read what people said about the game in the comments. The comments made me interested and few moments later i had already downloaded the game and played it over the month. After finishing the game i was really emotional and wanted to read more. Ever17 would be my second game and after those 2 games, reading VNs became a hobby of mine.

It was some years ago when i first found out about anime-sharing. I dont remember 100% but i think i found it by searching for a no-dvd crack to Material Brave, i remember visiting lots of fishy sites but anime-sharing felt a lot safer than most. After putting my trust on this site, i have been checking out updates on new VNs regularly since then.

Nowadays i think i spend more time on music than on VNs, mostly because i cant read japanese so a lot of games on my harddrive are waiting to be played. But if you are ever interested in music, i can introduce you to almost anything since i have an open mind to style and genre.

Frankly i dont remember, i do remember True Love being my first VN. At the time when i finished it didnt exactly sparked my interest.

Then roughly around 2008 played Persona 3 and i really loved the immersion the game brought to me thanks to the protagonist that was merely a vehicle for me, the player. And most important, introduced to me the world of waifus. So naturally after some web search i got introduced to VNs that was basically a medium made for waifuing.

I think my first animesharing contact was when Growlanser Wayfarer of Time was announced so i decided to spread the word and got here (It was my first post).

As for why i play eroges? Well im very picky, i wont play anything unless the MC can be named or he is unnamed. I like to think of the protagonist as me (Just like Persona games do) so in order for that i need the MC to share at least my name to successfuly make the connection. So i dont really care for the games writing or story as i get a nameable MC and good waifus.

Thats why i no longer watch hentai anime or normal porn, i rather imagine im the one doing "the deeds" so thats why i play VNs.

It's like regular porn except it isn't. Instead of just seeing the sex scenes, in eroge you have to work for it and you get to choose the girl you want to do it with, just like real life. Feels just like real life too. Nah I'm joking with that one, basically like a text-based RPG.

tbh I've been chillin' in this thread for like 10 minutes trying to wrack my brain & remember what the first 18+ game I ever played was & I seriously can't remember. But then again I've been playing VNs for like 10 years now (maybe longer??) & after awhile alot of them just run together...

That aside, I play them because I like story/character based games above all else.
(I also like collecting characters - say to use in your party, gather CGs, unlock endings, what have you. I blame pokemon/SMT)

Anyhoos, I found AS because of its game sharing section ~ particularly its otome game request section - I think it was linked to in another forum (plus I regularly check nyaa/sukebei so it was only a matter of time until I ended up here)

I play them because I find them enjoyable. I started playing them about 6 years ago with my first one being yume miru kusuri.

I play eroge for the characters.
I used to watch anime too before but I felt I got more out of playing eroge.
I guess since it's not restricted to 20 minute episodes and other "regulations" (read no ero) they can spawn more into the characters, their stories and appeal.
Also ofc, you get to choose the routes, people like different characters, anime just has set linear plots.

My thoughts exactly...that's why I quitted anime entirely, they just don't do it anymore.

I haven't played one for a good while, but want to get more into them. Hence how i found this site.

I used to play stuff like True Love, Divi Dead and the like and found them fun as it was in the first couple of years of getting into anime and beening a late teen at the time was attracted by the art I also had a rubbish pc and all the games would play on my pc.

I tried a couple a mate got of steam a few months ago and they look sooo much better and I like anime that are about making them. So time to give it another go.

Most of the ones I've played has a great story and either amazing or cute character designs...
As for Neko Para, "it has a chest bounciness setting"... Need I say more?

Basically cute art and sometimes the story also as long as it can make me keep playing it till the end.

story, art, and some of them can't be fully fleshed out without some of the R18 scenes...
