Well, the thing is, Tendo Bai Di Academy is an army training facility for Bai Di Castle :3, it is the best in Tendo :3 As Bai Di Castle is the Capital of Tendo :3

For Bai Di Castle? Will the novel be based around the Three Kingdoms?

Good eyes, but no, it is nowhere near based on Three Kingdoms, I just named the Castle the White King in Chinese since I think its cool ;P

I'm pretty sure Bai Di (Bac Dei) is white ground/earth. Bai Wang-Xiang would be White King~ :goodtea:

Hello Decal, good afternoon~

:runhappy:

Bai Di is written as 白帝 in Chinese, hence White King

I'm using Mandarin pronunciation, not Cantonese

Mandarin because Cantonese pronunciation can be weird sometime and Mandarin seems to have more of a pronunciation closer to English.

It is now, but back in the time before Mandarin was created, I believe is Cantonese, still, there is a quite a large population of people who speak Cantonese

Well I guess you are right on that part King. 帝(Di/Dei) is replaced with 上(Shang/Seung) in Cantonese which also changes how it's pronounced, but it's the same either way. However, we're both actually wrong to some degree as the writing for King is actually just 王(Wang) and a King =/= an Emperor. The character 帝 is taken from the word 皇帝(Huang Di), so Bai Di is actually White Emperor. And that is my lesson of the day for non-Chinese people~

:runhappy:

Hmm cantonese is second atm i think... too many different dialects... everywhere has their own little spin off xD

Is true, but I don't like the word Emperor, and most of the time in Western language, highest status is King and generally Emperor is tend not to be used, just like 天 is referred to as Heaven most of the time instead of its actual meaning which is the sky. Either way, King is pretty much the Western equivalent of Emperor (Yes, I do acknowledge the fact there are Emperors back in the time, but Tendo is set based on Medieval and there are hardly any Emperor in Western society after Medieval, hence why I choose my word rather carefully xD)

Plus the fact that I think Castle of the White King sounds better than Castle of the White Emperor, as a novel writer I tend to choose the names/titles that sounds better

Pretty much xD There shouldn't be much difference in the English term, but in the Chinese term, the Emperor is the Ruler of the whole China, King is just a ruler of a country (back when China is split up in many small "countries")

Anyway, time for King to go, laters :3

Yes! So you are one of the minority who see 天 as sky. Makes me a bit happy :3
In modern language 天 by itself usually just means heaven. When adding 上 or 國 the word is still heaven. Writing the word and saying it also differs the meaning. It also depends on the context as well since I believe you can also say 天上 to refer to 'sky' as well as using 空 when saying sky too.
I guess what you say about the word being the western equivalent is also true. :goodtea:
And yes, an Emperor rules a nation while a king rules only a country.

See you King, though it was for a short while, it was fun exchanging words with you~ :bye:

xD Indeed it is =]

I'll probably be watching for videos on YouTube so I might just pop in once in a while to say something~ :goodtea:
