I'm a lazy person, so making patterns manually is out of the option for me. Besides, there are many resource sites out there, from sites like deviantArt to personal blogs and graphics design tutorial sites, that provide pre-made patterns you can seamlessly apply to backgrounds or whatever.

nah i prefer trying to make what i want to learn my self ;) thought it's nice to have a help but if there isn't any, i am trying to think a way how to make that effect to happen. Also i did have a devianArt account but i haven't even introduced my self there  :XD: i spend more time here and in Greek anime community and also at a small personal forum made for my friends (ain't gonna tell here or now).

But it's nice to have someone exchanges options! I am very happy that i came back to this SOTM!

Wow Ignis;, you really have a knack for making tutorials *_* Didn't know it was that easy~

I see. Well, if you're keen on making all your effects from scratch, it may be a good idea to make your own resources and compile them for later use so that you can simply reuse them instead of redoing everything for every work. And I don't have a deviantArt account either; I used to be active at multiple forums, but am only active here now...

Thanks for the kind words~ Yeah, it's easy. Sorry if the explanation was too long or roundabout, but I wanted to make sure even beginners reading it would understand. I do enjoy explaining simple how-tos, though, so if there's anything I can help explain or anything you guys think I should make a standalone tutorial for, feel free to ask.

It's one of my favourite fonts for giving an artsy feel: http://www.dafont.com/jellyka-estrya-s-handwriting.font

Awesome! Thanx!

I am thinking adding some 3D elements like mirroring effect on objects from Corel Draw, i want to evolve my knowledge but lately i don't have free time :(

Also i am willing to by this software Manga Studio Pro EX 5
I want to try to make my own character though i might sucks on my hand sketch but i want to expand also my knowledge and at this area as well :)

No problem, hope you enjoy using the font (not that I made it).

Yeah, time's always the problem. I've been getting interested in 3D modelling too and wanted to start with Blender, but after being overwhelmed by the functions and interface at first, I haven't been getting back into it. When I do have more free time, I tend to feel lazy and prefer to spend it on simply gaming or dozing around...

Those are pretty neat. I see you lean more to the realistic side of artwork in your sketches, nice! I used to like drawing a lot as a teen too, but haven't made any serious sketches in years. Maybe I should go back to it sometime. I can't use ink at all (I've always sucked at colouring, even with pencils and crayons, since childhood), so kudos to you for using it decently, especially in the fourth artwork (this one).

My friend's mentioned about Manga Studio too, and seems pretty satisfied with it. He also loves drawing and uses other tools such as Paint Tool SAI, which I haven't been able to get into―I think I'll just stick to Photoshop for now and draw rough sketches without any supplementary software and with just good old pencil + paper.

I am a bit of embarrassment of my sketching i tried ink, pencil but i am lacking...

Your sketching looks good to me and it is at least much better than what I could do. If you feel still lacking then you have a reason to improve yourself, right?

I am thinking buying the Manga Studio Pro EX 5 and start making my own characters i also thinking to scanner my creation rather using my photo camera and colored them with photoshop or corel draw.

Scanning as opposed to taking pictures with a camera is of course better, but what about using a drawing tablet if you're seriously interested in developing your skills in that area? The reason I myself don't have one is because they're quite pricey for what's basically a side hobby, but if you're considering buying Manga Studio (which isn't cheap) while on the other hand scanning your drawings, why not get a drawing tablet for smoother results and editing your drawings with other tools (Photoshop, Corel Draw, whatever) for the time being?

Ι have a wacom the manga stylous but the sensor down at the ballpoint died after excess usage i bought also a new more professional Wacom device. Also i like painting by hand on paper i like it thought i want some of them to make them at my computer also here is one of my accomplishments using the scanner of my friend

Original Draw Image

Using the Photoshop coloring the character

Using again Photoshop for coloring background and at more tones to the image more the 3d visual effect. - Final Version.

Did you paint the black tank top in the original version with ink? It looks solid, even after scanned―too solid for manually shading it with your pen―while not seeping out of its boundaries. Good job, doubly so because I can't use ink even remotely properly. Nice overall colouring too; I particularly like the shade effects on her skin. Did you use dodge tool or something on the shading in the final version, or maybe use burn tool on the entire image after scanning it? In the final version, while the hair looks darker and more solid, it looks like the skin is brighter, though not necessarily more saturated.

Remember when you told me to mix separate areas of a render to mix them with the original one while using the blending layer effects yeah i did done what did you said me some pages before, by combine with separate hair body and clothes. The skin is a layer that i played with curve, and another layer is mixed with dodge layer effect.

Also i scanned the file as more white and gray scale and then i played with contrast i could scan as black white but i wanted some shades of gray to be in the draw.

Well i love draw with ink i have countless fountain pen with variable fatness at the nib. Medium, Fat, or more cutted nib for calligraphy.

Ah, I see. Combining separate elements like that isn't very trivial to accomplish, but once you manage to do that, it may be easier to customise them further as they're modular and separate from each other. Also, how silly of me; using general adjustments such as curve is of course a better method than manually altering the colour palette one pixel at a time (or 50, or 100, or whatever your brush size is). And it sounds like you have something close to a studio with a fair amount of different equipment (such as your fountain pens) for different necessities.

Well my studio isn't so amazing as you think it's been fitted with only pc's my hand draws are always done at my veranda or other placed that can made me to produce art.
I use my studio not only for rendering but also for encoding video. But also in 3D studio Max and AutoCAD (cause is my job). Though i haven't a scanner my friend lend his old one but it doesn't matter i can scan now my images though i have to return the scanner in a month or so... :( I am in search for not a pricey one... but i will definitely go with an Epson or Canon.

So it seems! Each additional entrant there is makes me happy, so keep 'em coming, girls 'n' guys. Starting from the latest entry, it'd be nice if we could get more entries from members that aren't the customary regulars.
happihentai; thanks for participating. I removed the attached image from your post as embedding an external image link was enough (it's also easier to see than an attachment that you need to click through first to see in full size). I guess, true to your username, you had to put an enhanced emphasis on the panties even more than the thematic flames, eh? ;)

It's a pretty neat room, still. Definitely more than what I could say about my own room and (especially) desk, which I suppose bookworms would like. As in real bookworms that infest books. Not people who love reading so much.

Something struck me as somewhat peculiar, though: Why are there so many chairs? Are the two chairs close to the wall intended for people you take photos of? Also, as you deal with a lot of graphics design-related stuff, how about using bigger screens? I've seen my dad work with CAD tools and they really look like the kind of things you'd want bigger screens for. Even if your main workstation is a laptop, you can still connect a big monitor through the VGA port, provided your laptop's graphics adaptor can handle it. (Though, I think I see some desktop cases there...)

Hmm, I'm not very well-versed in scanning, both the techniques and the equipment. I hang around with a lot of people who work with that kind of stuff on a daily basis, and get to hear their talk fairly often, but I can't seem to remember the good scanners they've mentioned. I think it was a Canon. And finally, I'd say drawing at a veranda or another similarly relaxing place would feel better than isolating yourself in a room. I mean, you're not drawing for a closing deadline like a manga artist, anyway :P

Well this is my personal studio but i don't have enough space for a 24-27 inches monitor but in near future i might bought one. I have all of them in network. But if i want to work exclusive with CAD i work in my office of my family Construction & Real Estate Business i have there 2 27" Dell Monitors and i am working on them. But for personal use i am cool with the 22 and 19 inches monitors :)

Also for the there 2 chairs with the glass small table well it's a small relax area.

But drawing is all about light and having freedom. I can't draw while i am in my room. I feel constrained inside the room :(
