With five tv shows and twelve movies countless comics and books, Star Trek is Paramount pictures crown jewel of franchises. This rich tapestry of sci-fi gold, doesn't get the respect it's due from the mainstream like Star Wars is granted. It's fans are considered nerds, while Star Wars is held on high. Why? I don't know. I guess Star Wars is an easier story to follow; or one main story. Good vs. evil. Now Babylon 5 takes the cake when it comes to writing. It has a solid beginning middle and end wrapped up in five seasons and several tv movies. It's another sci-fi show that deserved a budget like Star Trek and attention from all fans of the like. Now, these new Star Trek movies are great but I really miss Star Trek on TV. Deep Space Nine (last four season) I consider some of this show's best stuff. The show needs to be syndicated. UPN killed trek for TV. ST Insurrection killed it ST in the theater, not Nemesis. Paramount take note no matter how bad or good a movie is (Nemesis), people judge franchise by the last move you did (Insurrection). Insurrection was crap, so people didn't go to see Nemesis. Nemesis's story was weak and unbelievable.... so they had to start from scratch and throw tons and tons of money at the reboot. They are so lucky the reboot made a profit. They spent too much money, and it could of killed Star Trek.
So much really does depend on direction (vision and focus, not necessarily director) and finance.
Star Trek hasn't really found anyone to give it the kind of direction Gene R. did. And after Into Mediocrity Darkness, ST3 is going to have severe budget problems.
Now that Star Wars is a Disney property, they have a stable of great producers and directors to give it the direction it needs. And, of course, Disney could finance a REAL Death Star, if they wanted to.
Better...and feels more like SW than the first one but im still highly sceptical about it....but looking at Han and Chewie after all those years.that feelings....
Nice graphics and background, which you would expect from Disney.
Han and Chewie!
Not sure about Harrison Ford. He's a hard working actor, and usually puts in a fine performance. But sadly, he's way past his prime as an action character... as we saw in the Crystal Skull debacle.
On the other hand, Chewie doesn't look like he's aged a day!

It´s hard these days to capture that feelings we had watching the first trilogy,it was kind of magic....but on the other hand it`s 2015 and no matter if it´s lucas, spielberg,J.J Abrams or even scorsese sitting in the directors chair the final product will be about 90% of CG/Bluescreen stuff. It´s just impossible to compare sequels/prequels/remakes these days to their counterparts in the past.I heard Ford signed in for a remake of Blade Runner last year......and Mad Max is coming soon....not to mention the next J.J ST....
Something I'm wondering about. By the end of the first six movies, all the Sith Lords were killed off. Sidious was supposed to be the last Sith master. The old one Sith master one apprentice rule.
So where are the new Sith Lords coming from?
Maybe there's some secretive Darth Yoda tucked away?
Looks nice too ! Battlefront 2 was great ( even greater with the MovieBattles Mod installed) this looks amazing ( it´s not actual gameplay footage though...) maybe a reason to buy ps4/xbox one if the game is good enough...
