Harvest Moon/Rune Factory

yeah i experience the same thing, im planning to buy it when i get enough money, i should get a job to feed my addictions...

haha im glad i waited was ready to waste my money in the diner! ill do that i only want some orichalc to make some accessories

You can find Orichalc around floors of 50 - 74. They tend to be 1 - 3 per floor if you're lucky enough. I actually went all out on most games, so you can imagine what I was earning when I had things going at Early Summer after a few trips to the bottom of the mine.

My thoughts on it though is that you should take it easy and wait till around Winter to buy all the Wonderful Stones you need to get through the next period of the year.

What I ended up doing is, after having excessive amount of income per day:
 • Keep constructing new buildings after maxing the Chicken Coop and Animal Barn out
 • Finished all the Bridges
 • Got a Greenhouse
 • Had Charlie finish the necessary accessories to unlock Teleport Stone
 • And... found nothing else to spend the enormous income on....

Eventually, I just didn't need to worry about income and just grew vegetables to win festivals or even earn recipes. And if you didn't use the mine as a main source of income, farming actually earn a decent chunk of income in your first year along with raising animals.

well thanks im making my way to floor 50 the now, on 10 so far.... hope the chocolate ive got will get me there

You'll grow used to it after you do a few more runs and knowing your limits on balancing chocolate and getting the accessories you want. Personally for me, I take notes on how much chocolate I have my character eat at one time to know when I should eat it or not.

Okay, I'm playing this on no$gba since it appears to have decent voice compared to desmume for some reason... I wanna se if it lags though...

Well... I actually play it on NDS Lite in physical form so... can't say I know too much about the run speed. It should be decent from what I recall. Take note you want to copy the save files every so often and note the settings so you know when you need to replace the file. Just in case it gets corrupted and what not. From what I recall, no$gba does a decent job emulating most of the NDS functions for most HM games.

Can't recall many games from the HM and RF series needing the touch screen stylus. With a few mini games in the HM side which is the exception to this case and certain activities like walking and stuff on the Island of Happiness and Sunshine Islands.

Just a question... why do I sometimes get "skill up" from simply running?

Just a question... why do I sometimes get "skill up" from simply running?

Because there's a walk skill in the character statistics that raise the following values:
"Skill raised by walking. Raises HP, RP, and Vit."

Practically everything you do will make your character stronger. Including taking poisons status and so on.

Yeah I know what you mean. Just went back to my Japanese version of the game (my English version is now dead I think) and just had fun playing around with it for a minute. Still, some people get stuck in certain parts of the game. Especially if you miss something that is kind of obvious for the developers but not for the general players.

I see, I'll try to not miss anything then :runhappy: Btw, can you speak japanese? :reallyconfused:

Off to make food, don't expect a quick answer :3

No, I haven't learned enough Japanese overall to make standard conversation at a intelligent level. It just so happens that my Japanese Version of the game is still working while the NA version is already non-functional. No matter, it's was fun while it lasted.

Have a nice meal. I'm actually fixing my sleep pattern since I'm getting too fatigued recently.

Oh, I thought that you could speak Japanese since you had that version but meh :< Are you learning Japanese or have you given up?

Thanks :3 I have to do the same... I'm still wondering how I'm supposed to fall asleep at 11 pm when I woke up at 1 pm...

Yeah, a lot of people who assume that anyway. Personally, I haven't started learning Japanese at all. But probably do so in a few months since I'm starting find that I will need more languages anyway in near future. It's probably better time spent than playing one of my online games that takes one hour per match to complete.

I don't know about you about sleeping but when you feel the fatigue take a toll on your body. You will eventually fix your sleeping biorhythm bit by bit, by sleeping earlier than the night before. For me, I probably can just do it out right due to my nature of uneventful sleep cycles I been having lately.

I guess that it's better to waste time on that. I might try to learn it sometime. I tried in school but a lession clashed with the Japanese one so I only got 50% of the information which kinda wasn't anything at all since I never understood anything... Which game is it?

Yeah, I usually fix my sleeping by staying up to about 4 am and then waking up at 10 pm or something so I will be extremely tired until 11 pm so I can sleep. I didn't wake up by my alarm today though so I screwed it up and my work therapy starts tomorrow -.-

Btw, a question regarding the game. Can you turn off the voices? Also, a girl likes to bite me. She must love me alot <3

EDIT: I gave Pia some Toyherb when she wanted it and she got happy. Then she asked me if it was her birthday :/

Yeah, if you want to learn a new language, it tend to be better if you can learn the entire thing with little or no interruptions. Otherwise, you would have to focus on the fundamentals at all times to ensure you basics are right. The only online game that takes around 30 to 60 minutes per round is League of Legends. This assumes you don't play ranked and throw time down the sink.

Sounds right on how you would fix your sleeping time. Although I worked in a few jobs where my sleeping cycle is messed up. So I guess you can say my body ended up learning to get rest when possible.

If there's no option to turn off the voices, then there's not much you can do. Would of liked that option included since there's a lot of NA games that I just don't want to play due to the dubbing. I prefer the language comes from the original language with the correct emotions and timing of voices. Otherwise I don't want to hear it at all. Which brings me to the next point, that there's some people who's really good at modifying files and replacing the voices of the characters with the ones from the original game.

And yeah... In the end, there's a general agreement that she does say that in both the original and translated version. Pia (ペルシャ) will say that if you give her gifts that she consider normal. Try giving her a fish (uncooked) or better yet give her a squid (or squid dish for extra points). With that said, it's been already almost two years since I last played it from start to end.

HatoriTakaya; Yeah, I was kinda lost when I tried it in school :/ LoL huh? :/ Is ranked really that bad? xD

Well, as long as it works. Sometimes it's extremely hard to change it but sometimes it's easy. It was easy for me this time since I managed to fall asleep around 12 pm at least and wake up at 6 am :3

Is there even someone who have modified the game then? I kinda don't want the voices at all since it kinda ruins it for me to only hear the voices in some lines they speak and it ruins the feeling. I want full voice or no voice at all... At least when you speak with them and they voice 1 line out of 5 lines :/

Dunno if I should go for Pia or Sofia though... Sofia is annoying but Pia seems meh in general... and the main girl is just annoying :< I gave her some squid that I made with a knife, she got happy. I also gave Sofia a boot that I fished up since I didn't want it in my inventory and she was the closest being to dump it to. She apparently got happy so I guess I must've been lucky. I gave her a can I fished up later as well and she didn't mind that one either :/

Hinode: League of Legend Ranked to me isn't that bad. Well assuming you're not taking it seriously and don't mind not being in platinum, diamond or challenger. I only find it time consuming since I just don't have the time to sit down more than 1 or 2 matches before I need to go do something else. Doesn't accomplish much as entertainment. So now days, I'm starting to look for other form of entertainment or hobbies that I can advance well into. That's why I find Elsword extremely easy, even if I have to solo a boss for five minutes straight. Each run only will take 20 minutes maximum, if I have a low DPS value on my characters.

Yeah, not much to go on about when it comes to sleep. Its either you can or can't now days when it comes to getting back into normal cycle of sleep. Sometimes I take naps when I feel tired, assuming that I'm driving and need a short break.

Well there is a modified version of it. It's just that it can't be implemented on a actual cartridge. So if you own the original game and you play it on a emulator, they can't complain that you're getting it for free. Since you already own one and paid your dues. But putting the legality aside, there's one out there. It's just people don't notice these things.

Well how far are you in the game cause you can also marry:
 • Shara (Flower/Seed shop girl. Granddaughter of the Village Chief)
 • Collette (Diner Girl and obviously a food lover)
 • Marian (The Witch Apprentice)
 • Karina (General Store Daughter)
 • Pia (The Half Mermaid)
 • Sofia (The girl of opposites, for the ultimate gift give 'Super Failed Dish')
 • Sakuya (The Traveling Merchant)
 • Carmen (The Sister of the Fisher Brother)
 • Raven (Accessory and Weapon Shop Assistant. She can Transform into a Phoenix)
 • Kuruna (The Unicorn girl and leader of the tribe)
 • Daria (The manic artist/painter/all art forms)

Personally I was able to raise all their hearts to max before 3/4 in game. It's not hard to get all their most liked items to be honest. And you probably end up making some of them to raise your skill levels to get more HP and RP anyway. Last thing... it's not like they voiced all the conversation in the game. So it's bound to be different from the Wii/PS3 release in terms of voice overs.

Yeah, Elsword takes less time than LoL each run so it's easy to manage your time I guess :/ It feels like I'll waste all the time I got from playing a single LoL match since it takes so long time...

I can't take naps... I'll just fall asleep for too long and won't be able to sleep during the night instead xD

I see... I ain't really that surprised after all :/ I probably wouldn't have known about it unless you told me though xD

Hmm... the people with 6 hearts (highest atm) are Shara and Pia. I've tried to get Sakuya to like me but I only got 5 hearts with her and Sofia. Might be someone I'm missing, I could always edit it when I open the game. Too lazy to mention all girls with 4 hearts and lower xD

Hmm, I'm more into trying to raise Sakuya right now... I also realized that I was underlvled for the boss, or else it was just my shitty gear. I was lvl 11 for the 2nd boss and I did like 60 dmg per hit to it and lost 208 HP from his strongest attack. At lvl 14 with better boots and hat I managed to deal 160 each hit and take 63 damage from his strongest attack...
I also love the boss theme :3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35J4zkaUF-Q

zad38: Well if you enjoy the trailer and the game play video then find the game affordable. I say you're making a worth while purchase. Assuming you take over 60 hours to complete the main story with some side quests along the way. Including your own personal goals within the game.

Agreed on the time factor in comparison for both games. Rarely I would be able to force the enemy team to surrender, even if they're on the back foot. With the exception where it was completely obvious that they have lost all hope in regaining any objectives and chance of victory.

Guess each to their own in sleeping. And no one knows these things unless they keep tabs on the developments on these type of patches.

Don't bother mentioning each and every one of them since it will take forever. I just started my game again and I'm already almost finished in less than 10 hours of worth of playing. Probably. Some of the girls already at six hearts and if you know how to get their gifts easily, you can skyrocket them relatively easily. Even at the start, you can practically get some of their liked gifts to get it up pretty fast.

And I'm not surprised to hear your level and results of the 2nd boss fight. To be honest, one of my younger siblings was around you level as well when being at the second dungeon. Personally for me, it pretty fun messing with bosses with seriously underleveled and still using my first gear. I personally use a dual dagger/swords to play in this time round. You spend most of your time running around and chipping their HP while managing small bursts of attacks at opportune times.

Did the same thing for Rune Factory (First Installment) where you don't have an auto target feature in that game. So you got to know time your attacks well and position at the right place during the bosses attacks. Finished all the first four dungeons before it hit 3rd week of Spring in that game. Can't do fifth dungeon in the meantime until Winter freezes the lake around the cave.

HatoriTakaya; I accidentally got Pia and Shara to 7. Only Pia knows that I'm a fluffy yet. I'm trying to get Sakuya up, I don't know what she likes though... probably monster drops since she spams about that 24/7 :/

Well, you've played the game more often so I guess that you can play it while sleeping? xD I use dual wield since they're quick and I found a weapon which had nice damage. Now I got a longsword with water element and around 230 total damage output. It's so slow though... I have to use the special skills more often. The axes and hammers seems useless because you stand still while attacking and they're slow as hell :sigh:

The best thing is that you lvl up rather quickly. I dislike to fight the bosses slowly atm since It's the first time I see them and I want a good strategy first. Also, why is Shara such a retard? "Congrats on your birthday, Hino! I'll give you this seed which can grow in Spring and I don't give a damn that it's Summer right now!"

I can't say much about the first game, but I guess that you've played it alot? I might be able to try it out sometime as well :goodtea:

Hinode: That's pretty nice. Pia is best given squid dishes for best results. Sayaka actually likes any monster based drops, which is funny, and have favorites are Boss Drops and Charms.

Well Rune Factory and Harvest Moon was made with the intention to entertain younger teens so it should be relatively easy, interactive and fun. But you got the general idea on how I play Rune Factory and Harvest Moon games. Each weapons has their uses. To be honest, in my first playthrough I actually had most weapon skills above 30 to 50 to get the stats for your character as high as possible with little time spent on the training period. I like Dual Blades for the damage, but I like the other weapons for other uses. Like I have a short sword that afflicts status on enemy monsters. This boosts my other stats in the progress while I deal damage to monsters and defeat them for experience.

To use the heavier weapons, what you want to do is to time it in a way that the enemy is stunned after finishing an attack and you just take them down in the process. Heck, I even used a legendary fishing rod to kill a boss for the sake of fun. But that's just overkill in a sense as well.

And yeah, that's what I like about Rune Factory series. Anything and everything you do will level you up and increase your skill and level stats over time. Including sleeping. So isn't that wonderful? Yeah no one wants to fight a boss in a endurance match, generally speaking. For me, I don't mind since I was planning to rush the game to open certain plots to get particular workshops and stuff. This occurs in all Rune Factory games, so sometimes you can advance it quickly to get everything you need without waiting. Shara is... ditzy or an air-head, which ever one you want to see her as. But at least you can still grow Spring crops in the dungeon that is forever Spring.

Since all installments of Rune Factory is connected only in the sense of the monsters. You can just start on Rune Factory 3 and go complete any other in which ever order you want. But really the order is the release order due to Cameo appearances of character in game as a guest or the like. Yue in Rune Factory 3 was a merchant in Rune Factory 2 who can be married to the main character in that respective game. Still she acts a merchant in both game. Raven in Rune Factory 3 appears in Rune Factory 4.

HatoriTakaya; I guess... it was kinda hard when you had bad equips though :sigh: Now I got awesome stuff. A 2h sword called... uuuh... Steel Slicer that gives about 300+ attack :3 I love to use the Tornado Swing skill with it. I'm around lvl 60 I think? The only bad thing with 2h swords are the slow attack speed... but the spinning makes up for it :3

I usually tank the damage and then heal me with food when needed xD

Yeah, literally everything :| It felt strange though to lvl up from sleeping lol. Hmm, I managed to beat the entire game in an in-game year. Shara is strange in general :< I didn't know until recently that the dungeons had different seasons xD

Hmm, well... I get a feeling that there will be a lower ammount of stuff to do in the older games though... I might try out RF4 though. Yeah, I saw that on the wiki. That the merchant woman is a possible wife in RF2 game and that Raven shows up in RF4.

I'm married now as well. The last boss was easy. I tanked him without even needing to heal :sigh: I ended up with Sakuya :3 Wanna guess when our wedding anniversary is?

Hinode: Well that's a given. Most people would upgrade their equips accordingly to make the game a bit easier to complete. Recently, I was able to complete the game in a less than 10 hours from start to end. That's with only going to certain upgrades and abusing mechanics to level up certain skills faster. But yeah, weapon skill books make up for a lot of the deficiency of each weapon. Got to love the dual blade support skill book, increase speed of your attacks to the point you can just go 'Star Stream Burst.'

Yeah, same here. With that said, I like Pudding and Ice Cream for the ease of making them and the amount it recovers your HP and RP with little to no negative effects. Yum.

Yep, that's normal and you only realize dragon bit once you play two rune factory games or that you read that information about the game series elsewhere. As you can tell, Earth > Fire > Water > Wind is the order the dragons come in this series. And yeah, it's kind of epic in this installment that you can level through mindless things.

In Rune Factory 1 and 2, you would have to spend time doing particular actions to get your stats up. You still most things in Rune Factory 3 as you would do in the older version, the only difference is that sequences for leveling up skills is slightly different. You can't level up from walking, I'm pretty sure about that in the earlier series. But the amount of things you can do is about the same. Try it after Rune Factory 4 though since you can actually choose to be a girl or boy in that installment.

Wedding Anniversary is 25 of Winter or just before or after New Years is my bet. Shara is a bit strange but... she's a natural air head so if you read the Japanese text, its somewhat normal. Just think of Nayuki from Kanon or Fubuki and Nagisa from Clannad.
