Harvest Moon/Rune Factory

[MENTION=10600]HatoriTakaya[/MENTION]; I never really lvled up forging so my upgrade chances was low... so I gave up on it. I never used the speed increase skill though, it took about half of my RP the first attempt so I ignored it xD The Tornado Swing skill deals loads of damage being able to crit up to 1200 damage on enemies in my lvl...

I always made Toast because you can buy the ingredients and it's easy to make. It gives about 65 HP and 65% HP so I get about 1100 HP from it in lvl 60 something where I got about 1600 HP. It's awesome for being so easy to make. I didn't tame any monsters either until i got told by Sakuya that she wanted a Large Egg. I tamed 2 Cluckadoodles named Rick and Nick. Nick gives me Medium Egg and Rick gives me Large Egg.

Huh, dragons? I don't think I've seen any dragons yet though :/ Only the last boss when Sakuya disappeared but was that a dragon? It was of the water element though xD

I might try out RF4 first. Is there something more to actually do after getting married in RF3? I might replay RF3 since I was so incredibly overlvled against the last boss :sigh: I kinda killed him without effort lol. Just spammed Tornado Swing whenever I got close to him...

Close there xD It's on New Year's Eve... winter 30 in other words xD I'll never like Shara :<

[MENTION=38786]Hinode[/MENTION]: Well that's okay since you don't actually need it. Just know that it makes it look like you're doing half of 'Star Burst Stream' from Sword Art Online against standstill monsters. And if you're really good at combos, you can do 16 hits and more at a rapid pace with a skill use on top of it and move back at the same time.

That's pretty simple to make. I just liked Pudding and Ice Cream for the RP and HP recovery. Raised Buffulos and Cluckadooles with other monsters for the following items: Milk, Eggs, Honey and Wool. Had 4 more monsters to water the farm area to top it off. In the older version of Rune Factory, you can pet them to eventually be tamed.

The last boss was the Water Dragon and there's one in each installment of Rune Factory. Earth in the first one, Fire in the second, Water in the third and Wind in the last one. Just keep that in mind. You would of figured that out if you played the series in order but they rarely interlink too much though. Shara and your MC actually talks briefly on it to be honest and she mentions that she didn't remember it too well. Just because wasn't interested in that fairy tale.

Nothing to do really after you complete Rune Factory games to be honest. The Wii version of Rune Factory you can do so much more. Just NDS version doesn't give you much more to go on with. And if you want to replay it, go for it. Just marry someone else this time. It's pretty easy game once you get it down. I mean, change your difficulty to Hard in the ladder to the right in you house. You can do this after you complete the initial setting of the game where you beat the orcs and Shara can teach you to farm. To me it's still easy but they're only a little tougher to kill. That's all.

So close... yet so far... why not? She's like completely clueless about you and super air head like Nagisa from Clannad or Haruna from Fortune Arterial.

[MENTION=10600]HatoriTakaya[/MENTION]; I guess that I'll go to Rune Factory 2 then. Japanese voice would be better but I'm too lazy. I might replay Rune Factory 3 later and I can use your advice when I do. I just started Rune Factory 2 and I instantly realized that EVERYTHING is overpriced. About 500g for a single seed (I know that it actually is 3 seeds, but still). I did the Spinach quest to get 4000g and I bought seed for everything except 700 and it takes 6 days for the seeds to grow... it goes alot quicker in Rune Factory 3 :/

I didn't tame any monsters in RF3 until I figured that I needed the Large Egg lol. The only way was to tame the chickens and lvl them up :sigh: I guess that I can tame more in the next run of RF3 and in RF2 now. I already have the Pet Glove that the elf cutie gave me.

So that would mean that I have to face the fire one now then as the final boss? Sounds interesting since I like fire :3

Oh, well... I kinda guessed that the game would be over by then. I didn't expect a final dungeon when I should get married though so that came as a surprise lol :< I thought Sakuya left me :deadsad: I didn't even notice the "Hard" difficulty option. I remember that Shara told me about it in the beginning now that you mention it xD I could turn it on when I play it again. Is there a hard option in RF2 as well?

I disliked Nagisa in Clannad since she's stupid in general. She isn't an air head, she's just plain retarded :sigh: That's my opinion though. Shara kinda reminds me of her though.

this rune factory oceans is fun XD and so far its occupied me for 2 days straight and i dont think im even half way finished XD loving it =D

The ps3 one? I'm currently playing RF2 and it kinda disturbs me that there's a 2nd generation where you play as your child. Also, the people seems to have a lot less to say compared to RF3 so you kinda don't even wanna talk to the people because they say the same thing over and over and over until you increase their Friend/Love points... Also, the combat system is the worst I've ever seen compared to RF3 :sigh:

haha, yeah, they say the same things but it changes each time, most of the time, and new lines are added as you get closer, but it is really fun XD and the combat system is actually quite good, just needing to level up a bit more before i take on the next boss, oblitagator, an Australian boxing alligator... i couldn't help but laugh at him till he took half my health in one hit D=

Yeah, Rune factory earlier version are overpriced in everything to be honest. I didn't think you were referring to that when I answered earlier. Tired, just filled out all important documents that should be sent to relevant departments today. Plus traveling to a various places made me already tired. Pretty sure it's 3x3 square worth of seeds being planted each time. So it's not actually that bad. Going to have a look after I post.

Well yeah, that's a given. Not much to say if you want to get better products, you got to tame them all. Yep, fire is the 2nd Series Dragon Boss. Sakuya didn't leave you, she got kidnapped by the Dragon based on the belief that halflings will never have a happy ending with the marriage of full bloods. I don't think so there is one for Rune Factory 2 to be honest. Haven't played that for six or more years.

Yeah, well... everyone to their own I guess. *sweatdrop* She does reminds a lot of people of didn't animation characters that was dizty or air-head.

PS3 one is a another series of Rune Factory so it kind of follows a different storyline that is exclusive to the adventures of the Rune Factory NDS installments. I could be wrong since I didn't go too far in deep with both of the Wii console rune Factory though. Guess it depends on how you feel about the 2nd Generation though. There's a reason why it ends up like that though so you'll find out at the end. But yeah, it's a stale game when it comes down to conversation when you go and play Rune Factory 1 and 2. Just keep that in mind. Rune Factory 3 is more friendly to newer players and it locks on. Rune Factory 1 and 2 requires you to actually time and direct your attacks. So if you think the combat system is bad... well... those who started from Rune Factory 1 and onwards will say Rune Factory 3 had a good overhaul on many things. Especially Combat system where it rewards you more.

Put it simply, Rune Factory 1 and 2 is much harder to survive in and complete your combat in. So I don't think you can increase your difficult on both of those games.

haha, yeah, they say the same things but it changes each time, most of the time, and new lines are added as you get closer, but it is really fun XD and the combat system is actually quite good, just needing to level up a bit more before i take on the next boss, oblitagator, an Australian boxing alligator... i couldn't help but laugh at him till he took half my health in one hit D=

Yeah the combat system on PS3 is good in a sense since you have the analogue stick, unless you're using Playstation Move to play the game that is. Pretty interesting but I honestly liked Wii better for this case.

pity i sold my wii ages ago, the thing i dont like is the farming on oceans, you dont do it yourself you magically grow a seed and leave your monsters to tend to it? yeah...

Feels awkward there. I honestly liked the first series for Wii so yeah. Then again, I just like experience different type of systems in terms of interaction so I may have been biased there. Unfortunately you can't play the Rune Factory Frontier on the PS3 since it's a Wii exclusive from what I recalled.

[MENTION=38786]Hinode[/MENTION]: I just went through a new game on Rune Factory 2 to confirm what I remembered and it's actually correct. If you stand in the middle of the 3x3 square tilled soil, you will plant 3x3 of seeds from that entire square of tilled soil. That's why it's more expensive to buy seeds there for that reason alone. It followed through from the Rune Factory 1 Farming system and the skill system as well so that's why I was fairly sure it had the same system in there too.

[MENTION=10600]HatoriTakaya[/MENTION];

First post...

Everything is overpriced. I buy lvl 1 seeds and make lvl 1 Pink Turnips and I lost 350g everytime I sold 3 flowers since the seeds gives you 3 flowers each.

Yeah, I figured that after I beated the final boss. Sakuya got happy and we got married :3 Hmm, it doesn't seem to be ANY boss before I get married since everything is blocked by statues or fences which is annoying...

Shara is still better than Mana though. Mana just told me to fish a Salmon and it took me about 9 in-game hours to get one. I could've punched her in the face if she was real...

Second post...

Yeah, I kinda expected that the ps3 was different. It seems interesting though :/ Sucks that the farming is strange and I hope that everything isn't overpriced.

Honestly, the combat could have been better. I don't mean the lock-on here. Your character feels like a robot when you attack, hammers are slow and useless against quick enemies unless you force them to attack, dodge them and then hit and the recovery time with the hammer is retardedly slow if you miss. They could have added more quickness into attacks and actually knock down enemies like they do in RF3. I can stab a guy with a shortsword 4 times and he can hit me before I even can recover from those 4 attacks to run away. That isn't difficulty in combat... that's being cheap.

[MENTION=38786]Hinode[/MENTION]: Actually the profit is pretty marginal at the start if you rely on crops as a source of income. Please have a look at this on the website on crop planting and end profit.

Code:
http://therunefactory.wikia.com/wiki/Crops_%28RF2%29

As you can see, it doesn't make much sense to rely solely on crops to make income for your game. From what I remember, I used gems as the main source of profits and dungeons fields to sustain regrowth plants to make more profit over time. Then I also went down the path of raising one crop at the time to next level and basically forced it into a situation where I would abuse the system of planting only level 10 crop seeds to make maximum profit over the period of the first year. Heck, you can't even forge, workshop or use the pharmacy at the first generation.

And the second source of income was fishing for obvious reasons where you can't mine rocks that can't reappear till the next day anyway. I feel you when you wanted to punch a character for making you do something that takes almost forever to complete.

Bear with it though, the combat system was only revised and implemented after Rune Factory 3 was made. So if you thought it was cheap, it's unfortunate but they didn't have the game engineers to not make it clunky due to it was literally the first two games where they made a combat system for Rune Factory. Except Harvest Moon DS where you can kill the shadows to proceed further in the mine. Still, I agree that they could of done it better since Rune Factory 1 combat system was only slightly faster... I think. But you have to actually aim your attack and range of your weapon properly or die in vain if you don't have any healing items.

EDIT: Just use that crop guide to help you. Especially if you're having trouble playing this game to make profits. I already have a old save game where I basically have enough of everything to just go into the 2nd Generation without thinking twice... kind of convenient...

i dont use crops as a main income, i wait till a sale is on and buy items like iron then make weapons to sell at a higher price, or i just go out and gather materials, but requests can be very rewarding on this XD i mean i got 10 grand just for talking to someone once XD

[MENTION=60305]zad38[/MENTION]: Must be the Sainte-Coquille family... They are the only ones that would give monetary rewards at that level from my experiences for all Rune Factory games. Personally I actually use everything as a main income source for all Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games. Like for Rune Factory 2, the start I would still use crops to slowly gain income while using Fishing and Mining as the main income source. Needless to say, if you know how to manage your early advantages, it can set up a large income down the track.

Your tactic is legit for your situation though. Haven't played that series yet so I can't say that I have any other better ideas. Is there an option to switch voices into Japanese in Tale of Destiny? I know Frontier doesn't have that option which ticked me off.

[MENTION=10600]HatoriTakaya[/MENTION]; I've already given up on farming so it won't really help. I'm making around 2000g to 2500g on selling minerals. I give the gems to Cecilia and I got her at 9 LP now. I got a feeling that it will take ages to reach 10 LP with her but I got about 4 birthday items to her so she should get at least a bit on the way since it's her birthday the 12th Summer and it's 8th Summer now. I also won the Monster Taming competition in 10 in-game minutes. Kinda sad that you can't party with them just like in RF3. I used to bring Sakuya with me and she threw fireballs :3

I haven't tried fishing yet but that's because I focus on mining at the morning and I'm done around 10-11 am and I usually do quests after that. I guess that I could fish after that but I usually just go take a bath to make Julia happy and then go to sleep to speed days up.

Yeah, I figured that the charge hammer attack is like double as powerful as the normal attack so I could one shot most enemies. So I'm satisfied atm with that. It will be a pain with combat later when I get my kiddo. I'm kinda mad at the system with HP though... I only gain 5 more HP per lvl and I'm only lvl 5 I think :/ I'm not bothering myself to lvl up at all...

Oh, I also grab the fruit that grows on some trees now that you mentioned it.

(Last Post today and I'm going off to rest)

[MENTION=38786]Hinode[/MENTION]: I did the same as you for the start but I'm the guy who just uses everything to make income flow without a hitch. Think about taming monsters that can also increase your income. Remember, there's only certain monsters that produces something for you to sell everyday. But yeah, you should speed the day up if you don't have:
  • Anymore wood to chop (you'll need them)
  • Nothing more to mine (depends how much you want to make)
  • Finished with your crops
  • Done with Fishing
  • Foraging all the fruits for easy gold
  • Finished the daily quest
  • etc

Honestly, whatever stats you have on your main character now will carry over to your kid. So consider it and think when you want to rush the 2nd generation if that's what you are aiming for.

[MENTION=10600]HatoriTakaya[/MENTION]; Hmm, I don't do too much... The only things I grow right now are 16 pieces of grass for my monsters. I haven't chopped any wood at all yet but people gives me wood for free as well? I always mine everything in the morning. I never fish but I guess that it could be an idéa. I grab the fruits automatically but Apples don't sell for much so I skip them and I usually spend the rest of the time to do quests.

I don't have any plans of rushing to 2nd gen. I want to rush so I can marry Cecilia.

EDIT: Lmao, best present ever :/ I did Cecilia's last request on 11th Summer so we got married on 12th Summer which is her birthday :sigh: How do always I manage to get married on some of the special days?

actually i got the money from james, in this one the de-saint family is poor XD

[MENTION=38786]Hinode[/MENTION]: Oh alright. Thought I'll just make a mention since you'll basically need it for the first and second generation. But yeah, just do it on your own pace. Everyone has their own playstyle. Personally for me, all that list and more is what I do per day in Rune Factory 2. I checked my Summer game which is in Year 1 and I have the entire field filled with grass or Summer crops and each dungeon with a regrowth based crop. So really, it comes down as preference.

Well it's good fortune that you had Cecilia married on her Birthday. Did you know she's from the Rune Factory 1 series characters? It's always interesting to see the game advance based on the region they're in. Please she was pretty naughty when she was young. Got trapped and lost in a dungeon, won't spoil it any further for you though. Pretty naughty and cheeky. *Winks*

[MENTION=60305]zad38[/MENTION]: Oh snap, they didn't just get poor. Their fortune went to ruins and that's why they are in that state. Well at least that branch of the family did. Guess I was wrong. Still reading a bit of the character biography painted out her as a capable domestic wife and soon to be mayor for the island.

yeah, but i married elena XD, i saw her and i was like kawaiiiii or something, i just went she's the one ill marry since i would have to decide one eventually, but im gonna play through and marry all of them... gonna be a looooong game for me, and if it takes me another 45 hours to complete the main quest again... ill be happy, but first comes the trophy's gotta kill a hell of a lot more monsters, need to kill 5000, ive killed over 1500... fun...

Sounds you found the character you liked in that series pretty quickly. She must of left you an lasting impression. But that question to kill 5000 monsters.... that's a awkward one I have to admit. It takes like 5 to 10 seconds for monsters to spawn 2 at a time to be killed. Which me with 4 or more hours to kill that many at once. Not sure how your game works out the monster spawns but that sounds like a long journey ahead of you. In terms of getting that many kills.

yeah i got bored so i started again to marry violet, it was a hard choice >.< until i thought of just marrying all of them on different saves, and yes 5000 is very tiring im probably around the 2000 mark about now cant wait to finish that one and the giant monster one's since the rest should be easy to get

Sounds like you have a plan. But really? Did you actually start again? And yeah I would of had the same line of thought about marrying them all in different saves. No idea how you're going to kill that many monsters on the field in the game. Good luck. For me, I'm just going to run through Rune Factory 3 when I have time and just finish it off again.

nice, i want to get RF3, but with going on holiday and the games ive ordered, i dont think ill get it any time soon =(

I took a break from RF2 but I finished RF3. Then I turned it off and realized that I forgot to save for about 5 in-game days so I have to redo my marriage...

I might continue on my RF2 soon but it feels kinda shitty that you get to marry a girl and then you have to play as your kid... it kinda erases the point in marrying someone at all since she'll become your mother instead. I also hate the combat system alot. Whenever I have to kill something I feel like I wanna turn off the game and then start playing RF3 again because it was awesome compared to this.

haha, note to self dont buy RF2, although i do wanna buy myself more of the harvest moon series, and RF3... man i needa find a job...
