@madd although when I don't like something I can tear it to shreds, I generally am okay with most characters and protags. I watch quite a bit of anime, and read manga/stories, and it isn't like I just hate them all, all the time. XD

I will say this though, I find that a very strong protagonist that I really like is quite rare. The problem with this is that I generally like protagonists to be smart, and this is almost never the case. If they aren't smart, they have to at least be awesome to make up for it (eg. Kamina, or Katsuragi Keima).
